Jesus would only get this for you if it were the 21 degree. Jesus knows what's up.

Even though 21 is more common in my area, I prefer the 30. Nails, though not as widely available, can be ordered online, which is usually cheaper than local anyways.

I prefer paper collated (30) over plastic (21) collated. The plastic collated nails leave bits of plastic all over the site and embedded with the nail heads.

The 30 is also a bit more compact to hold.

Can't go wrong with either. Unless your project specifically calls out 2-1/2" x 0.131 HDG smooth nails, as it might for attaching sheathing in CA. Can't get that specific nail in 30 deg for some reason.

I'll sell ya my 21 degree lol
Like you said regional, around me you can get like 175% more nails in 30 degree for the same price, plus having to reload a hell of a lot less would be nice

I have the 21 degree nailer and it's a beast. I framed my shed with it last summer and it didn't skip a beat, it is heavy however, so I had to take breaks along the way. They make a mag extension for it to increase capacity but I was fine without it. You cannot fit two strips of nails in the 21 without the mag extension.

I didn't choose the 30 degree nailer mainly because of the availability of nails and it uses offset nail heads as opposed to straight round head nails.

There is some debate as to whether the "offset" nail head actually meets certain shear strength codes. I would check with your local codes inspector and ask them if they allow offset heads in framing or sheathing before getting the 30, which is what most people would use this nailer for.

Too pricey and heavy compared to using air, no?
Not when you factor in the air compressor and hose you need for it...

If you read the comments this conversion only goes one way. 30->21. Not 21->30.

What's the reason for the 21 over the 30? This is my first nailer but it seems like the 30 would give you more access?
in this case since it can use clipped and round head nails, the biggest difference is that 30 degree is paper collated which is not weather resistant and can fall apart when wet.

It used to be more common that clipped head nails were what was available for 30s but offset heads are easy to find and also comply to most building codes. some codes call for non-offset and that's what 21s do. 21s are plastic collated so they wont be useless in a gun if your site gets rained on.

Its not too much of a difference for a lot of applications but im sure someone in the trades will have a solid preference just by how theyve learned to handle one or the other

Also, some people may already own thousands of dollars worth of nails in one collation and angle or another so it may just not be worth buying a different gun thats only 5% of the value of the consumables that will go through it

Yep that's correct, I actually tried it myself, it could be done for sure but it'd be full disassembly for that to happen. Firing pin must be taller in 21 degree vs 30 (which in my mind makes 0 sense coming from a machining and manufacturing background, it'd be a lot easier and more cost effective to make 1 part) because it would try to shoot 2 nails at once, sometimes it would work fine, maybe could be a simple as a lighter spring in the mag. But doesn't work as simple as 30 >21

Yeah don't forget constantly having to drag hose over obstructions and tripping over it. If it's too heavy for you, you should just use it more, it'll feel lighter eventually. I've been using mine for a few years on and off for projects. Yes it's slightly heavier than my buddies paslode portable with a gas cylinder. But I hate having to worry about both a gas cylinder and a battery charge. It's just another thing to potentially forget about. If I didn't I probably would have bought a similar gun.

I bought the 21 degree version of this a couple years ago. It bent nails, nails wouldn't slide forward and therefore it would misfire. I took it back and HD gave me a second one. It did the same thing. Drove me crazy!
Lowe's had the Metabo 21degree equivalent on sale with a free circular saw a couple months ago. I was able to do the hack and return circular saw for a refund and get military discount. First time I've ever seen that at Lowe's. It has been flawless. No jambs, no bent nails=no frustration. I'm a Milwaukee fan, but in my experience, the metabo is much better.

I bought one of these online 2 days ago and it is yet to be delivered. Called HD to see if they would refund me the difference. They said since this was a special 24 sale, they would not do it. So.......I ordered another one at the special price and will get it in 4 days. Still got my military discount. Then I'll take the more expensive one back to store and get a refund. Does not make sense that they would not just refund the difference. Anyway.....in for one.

Yeah, tried it at the store display and was like nope, will stick with my air powered Dewalt which feels 2x lighter and fits two full strips of nails for less often reload while still being more compact than this bulky thing, I'm sure I can get used to it somewhat eventually but it's also much easier to fix/replace parts on air one as well as cheaper. Hopefully they manage to lower weight at least few pounds in next generation if there's one in the designs.
