Used to be a Netgear fanboy; had at least half a dozen different models.

Not since they took YEARS to fix problems with Nighthawk 7350 and tried to charge $60 just to tell me to install the latest firmware when I'd already told them I'd done that. I had been complaining about the problem since 2 months after install, but they told me my warranty had expired after a year, despite never fixing the problem.

6 months AFTER I abandoned them, they released a firmware update which fixed the problem, which had been in the firmware for 3 years.

AFAIC, I will never buy Netgear again.

I have a netgear RAX20 and it's a piece of junk. Lose network often, have to manually reboot about once a month on average to regain network. I won't buy a netgear router again. Asus has always been solid but I strayed away and got my netgear because I found a deal… should've paid more for an Asus.

Not compatible with any other firmware e.g. Tomato or OpenWRT...for this reason I wouldn't want this even if you gave it to me for free.

Gonna stick with asus ac68u for another decade
I use an ac87u of a similar vintage that someone gave me for free. It covers my house and seems plenty fast. I've looked at upgrading but honestly can't figure out how it would tangibly improve my life.

I bought this 2 years ago at $30 and thew it away after that for weak and dropping signals.
I have been using the asus t-mobile router for the past 6 yrs with Merlin DDWRT which goes strong and stronger each day.

Yep! I'm done with Netgear too! Setup an X4S as an access point. Seemed to work fine. Then I noticed audio/video files glitching. Netgear was no help. Hours of troubleshooting revealed the X4S was corrupting file transfers (failing checksum after copying) Back and forth with Netgear was frustrating. Finally, a forum member pointed out that one of the LAN ports should be used when using it as an access point (Not the WLAN port as the manual and Netgear Technical support indicated) that solved the issue but I had a few months of corrupted files to track down and replace. They never did update their manual either.

I've had the opposite experience with my Netgear RAX38. I've never had a problem with it. My wife works from home and I'm retired, so it gets constant work all day and all night, and it's never needed reboots like some of my older routers. It has been flawless for just over two years now.

They still make this? While this was an awesome router 10 years ago, you might want to invest in more recent technology.

Running above from Nov 2021, got it @35 Awh deal.

I used DD wrt, open wrt previous and just wanted a simple one for home. If you are on fence, factory restet , update firmware as soon as you get them. Worst case you got 30 days from amazon. Best case you save money and ewaste.

Wifi 6e, 7 going to be common soon. So dont get AC routers (wifi 5).

Any idea if it works with 220 Volt?
Most of the 12v wall-wart switching power supplies used by these things support both 110 and 220 volts, but I can't guarantee that *this* one does.

Looking up the specs page on it, it doesn't actually say anything about power.

That said, if it doesn't support 220v, finding another power adapter that does support it shouldn't be too hard. The output is probably 12v and 3.5a or so, which is fairly common.

You could have DDWRT on that NETGEAR RAX20 above?
I'm not aware of any WIF6 router that could work with DD-WRT at the moment.

I replaced my 68u mesh router with the above used item. $47. Plays nice with my other 68u mesh and my 86u as the main router. Can't vouch for tomato or Merlin. I run stock firmware. I went with this model for the wifi6.
