I would say Costco if you're already a member as it has more nits.

Agree. Although the Asus beats slightly on Hz, it has max brightness of 250 nits versus the 300 nits of the LG. That difference in brightness is more than negligible. Would go with the LG at current prices.

The Asus does not have HDR but it has ELMB-Sync making it better for fast paced games.

This is the 165 Hz model but tests at 329 nits in SDR mode.

The Asus has better build quality but otherwise they're very comparable. ASUS discounts are more rare since Asus seems to do price control - I say that cause whenever an ASUS monitor or laptop is discounted in the US, I see the exact same discount in Taiwan.

I haven't seen any good IPS HDR monitors, maybe have to go VA or OLED for that.

It doesn't? Unless it's incorrect description, it states:

If you use Windows 10 and have multi-monitor setup using DP ports, I'd stay away from LG monitors they tend to disconnect from the system in standby which moves all open windows to another monitor. I had to abandon DP port and use HDMI, which only supports 144hz.

He probably means it sucks at HDR. I have the older model and you wouldn't want to enable HDR.

Well, in that case, LG is not any better..

Does anyone have experience with the return policy for monitors with either Asus and/or Amazon? I don't want a hassle if I have dead or stuck pixels.

I got in on the LG deal. Bought 2 of them. Even at 300 nits, I feel like the monitor is not bright enough, the 250 on the ASUS will definitely be lacking.
