Yes. Lights around your tv give a poor perceived contrast, but people have been marketed colored lights so this is what you get.

Agreed like someone else said that it's subjective. I have some and at first it's highly noticable but after awhile it becomes part of the experience while watching TV. You don't have to have it on all the time. It's great for immersive movie or gaming experience. Also because it's Hue you can put the lights anywhere in the room and sync with other Philips hue products. Not for everyone though.

Not at all. Makes it more immersive for me. Plus my eyes don't get as tired at night which is a nice bonus
