I am selling these batteries for $35-40 each and with the markup on the tools it just doesn't add up.

I would look at different options before buying this.

How about DCF891 for $144+tax after battery return?
Just bought this, receipt shows return price for each just like HD and is similarly "hackable"
FYI:
$249 tools come down to ~$145
$179 tools come down to ~$90
Go up or down depending on original the price.
Is that something you can do same day? I.e. buy tool and packs then turn right around and return batteries? How do they figure the return price without a receipt showing the price paid for the batteries? Sorry for such noob questions.

Please read my post just above yours...
And yes, buy the set and return unwanted item(s), I literally bought, put the tool in my car, then walked back in to customer service & returned.

Just to be clear, how much did they refund on the batteries? The full regular price of $179?
ETA: Ok, I pulled the trigger and bought it online for in-store pickup later today. However, on the order confirmation/receipt it says the value of the battery pack is $0.00, and "Returns will reflect the value of the items purchased". I'm hoping that doesn't mean they're going to say the return value is $0.00. If they do, then I'll just return the whole order.

Thank you. Please keep us posted.
Well, that didn't quite go as planned. I picked up the 510 and extra batteries from the pickup counter. I asked the kid who did the checkout if I could just return the batteries now. "Sure!" he said... and then he looked at the receipt and said, "Oh, no, you got these for free so I can only cancel them... but you'll still pay $249 for the tool". Arg.
So my thoughts are to go to my other Lowes with just the sealed battery kit and tell them it was a gift (technically it was a gift from Lowes) and I don't have my receipt. Do you think they'll refund the full value? Or do they automatically make the price whatever the current lowest promo prices is (free)?
