I guess it's a slightly better promo deal but it can't be used to continue subscriptions people have. It's only for new users, like the page says, and it just pulls you into the outrageous intuit ecosystem.
New users already get 3 months of 15/month before the full rate of 30/month kicks in, so total discount of 45 for the expense of 315 in the first year (see website detail) and 360 per year thereafter, while purchasers here get a discount of 110 for a total of 250.
Unlike most "year subscription" purchases, ie office and onedrive, this is just a promo for new customers, it's not re usable. Which is bad because the service itself is outrageously overpriced imo in comparison to how qb desktop used to be priced (tho that has also gotten worse). Qb desktop isn't much more expensive than qb onlines cheapest options, and has a far better interface with far better functionality.
Still using QB 2017 desktop. I didn't even realize some people are selling 10 year old desktop versions for hundreds of dollars now. I guess Intuit found a way to more than double their profit margins.

Rep'ed for good substance. Like so many other software companies, Intuit had a good product and they sold it at a decent price. You could buy it, learn it, and use it forever.
THEN! They decided that you must fill their coffers by changing from a "buy once" system to one where you have to pay them continually. For... ? Whatever reason they choose to publish. "For reason X, you must pay us $$XX every year to keep using what you already paid for."
This is not an Intuit thing, this disease is going over most software "vendors". They want to change from a "buy" model to a "rent" model. Some may really like this change, but I think most will prefer the original model.
I've been with QuickBooks from the beginning and tolerated buying the latest Desktop version every 3 to 5 years. Now, it looks like the cheapest subscription is "Self-Employed" for $20 per month. I won't even pay that, so now the question is... what's the next best option? Excel spreadsheets?
