What do you suggest that makes it bad for? Does it mean movies won't be clear? Does it mean you can't read the news on it? Does it mean that it might be slightly difficult to differentiate between two similar shades of a color in professional photo-/video editing software?

You'll notice that washed-out colors right away and you cannot fix it. You're stuck with it forever. You'll never want to watch TV or movies on that screen.

Here you go, I had taken a photo before of a T14 laptop with crappy screen next to a proper (100% sRGB) monitor, with background blurred. Sorry for the bad Photoshop job.
You can easily tell that the colors are washed out, especially for the bright red, orange and purple. If you don't use it with an external screen, that's what you are stuck with. Watching movies on this kind of screen would just make you sad. Fortunately my laptop is almost always used with external monitors so not too bad.
It is ridiculous that these companies pay decent six digit salaries yet want to save $50 on a $1k laptop that people would use for years. I once said here that Apple's cheapest product with a screen, perhaps the base iPad, has a better screen than these ThinkPads four times as expensive. Well, apparently some people really have an issue with that and argue that ThinkPad gives you "choice". LOL

WTF with these garbage screens?!! 300 nits? Good luck using this in any environment that has visible sunlight.
I don't understand why cheaper Legion models have higher resolution, brighter, and far more accurate displays. Thinkpad T series is supposed to be representative of high quality, well appointed laptops. Why is this screen even an option?

Huh. It took me a while to recognize the difference between the two screens in that photo. I guess that's what happens when I grow up with $200 budget laptops. Thanks for the comments from both of you, and for the picture illustrating it.
This is sad. Been waiting for a ThinkPad T-series 15-16" laptop with ten-year shelf life for close to two years now for my dad.

I know that it is possible to swap these screens out for a nicer one, and many people report that on reddit. But most of that is for T14 series. You can do a bit research and see if that is an option for you.
I would consider other options like the old XPS 15 or even MacBook Pro 16" -- you can find factory refurbished M1 Pro version for as low as $1299 at Microcenter. I think it is well worth the money if you want a larger and nice screen and don't necessarily depend on Windows.
