It will take a long while before the 4080 drops to $800, if it ever will. Look at the 3000 series still holding at or above MSRP. Retailers bought these 4080s in bulk around the $1200 MSRP (minus whatever-small volume discount), and they're not gonna lose that money, so they're hoping unsophisticated buyers will still buy them at whatever prices they're selling for now.

I save so much money by not living near a microcenter 🤣 I say this to drown out the sound of my crying. TU for a great deal even though I can't get it.

I've used both brands, and I've had more (though not many) issues with Nvidia drivers than AMD ones. But my AMD experience was only from recent years.

The trick is that you must do a full driver uninstall (e.g., with DDU) when switching brands, whichever way you switch.

I've seen 7900 XT as cheap as $650, although not this specific brand and model. I have seen this specific model on sale for $680 once before. Roughly twice the performance of AMD's best value card (the 6700 XT) and only a little more than twice the price! This is a nice card, and well worth a purchase at this price over anything nVidia has launched recently...

Also, I'm pretty sure the 7900 XT comes with the new Avatar game right now too!

Where have you seen them go down that low? I haven't seen anything lower than $700.

OOS in Columbus. I would stay calm though, this isn't a special price this is gonna be MSRP over the next few months for all 7900 XTs. This is due to the 4080 super dropping to $999 and speculation that 4080s are gonna drop to $800.

$680 is the lowest I've seen it brand new, limited sale for an XFX model last fall.
