Depending on your age group, I would say it started almost 10 years ago? Wearing slim fit suit and dress pants shortened to no break so your socks show while walking is the current middle ground. Older folks can still get away with tapered pants and a slight single break. Anything longer or baggy looks sloppy in comparison. While the younger crowd tends to prefer the slimmer leg and hem at the ankle showing sock even while standing. I would have called them "high waters" 20 years ago.

For cheap stuff like this, might as well buy the trendy fit because it's not going to last anyway.

The funny thing to me is if you follow the new trends, baggy pants are coming back. (shrug)
