This one claiming feeds 3-4 people is absurd. 1-2 is more accurate. You do not want to stuff the basket (the way every air fryer ad shows!).

Like @nukem says, more surface area gets you better results, especially for crisp textures.
Single layer is best. But for certain foods it won't matter. For many of those, might as well "nukem".

Yeah. Looking like I'll be getting this one and returning the 3.0 qt. This will be slightly larger in footprint but better than too small.

Note: 3.0 qt is fine. I could have lived with it. But to get a bit more capacity for + $2 made more sense to me at this time.

Same here. Plus free shipping instead of having to go across town to pick up. But I'm waiting for shipping confirmation and maybe delivery before cancelling my prior order. BB has screwed me before on their daily deals.

Ha. Yup. I've already picked up my 3 qt but am going to hold it until I pass judgment on the 4.5 qt when it arrives next week.

I think the smaller would be more efficient with smaller volume means more quick heating, and faster cooking time, and less electricity. If the smaller size suffices, then it's all good.

Slightly larger size could allow food to be more spread out with greater surface area, but maybe not worth effort to exchange

I mean, depends on what you're doing with the food you're cooking, and what food it is. If you're having french fries as a meal? Yes it probably won't fry up enough fries to satiate 3-4 people. If you're making a side or an appetizer? That's definitely enough for 3-4 people worth of side/app. I have a 3.7qt air fryer that I use for travel with the kids and last time we did a family vacation with 6 adults and 3 toddlers, I was able to make enough potato puffs (from frozen) in it to make as a side dish for everyone. You'll need to shake it up periodically to make sure it fries evenly but they come out just fine.

Pretty much like I said. I have had several sizes from (3.5qt up to 8qt). For main dishes of meals, or reheating enough for a meal, 3-4 people is nonsense. Meals are what they are using to claim 3-4 people. This does not say "makes a side dish or app for 3-4 people". Who expects to cook 3 things back to back in this to get a meal?

For Fries, you will not get very good results with a full basket, even shaking them up 3 or 4 times, which is a PITA. Who wants to mess with that chore?

You will get some overdone and some underdone. I can get away with maybe 2 layers and one pause for shaking if I need that many fries. They show a full basket. This is not a deep fryer, which would be needed to do that correctly. There is not even room to shale that amount of fries. You'd need to remove them and shake them in a big bowl a few times during cooking. No way anyone is trying that many fries more than one time when they learn this sad fact. Just hype.

I am glad that smaller ones work out for your needs. I've been there and done that and found out the hard way. I hope my points and concerns save some folks hassle and money wasted with the BS marketing expectations they set.

I got this awhile ago from Best Buy for the same price.

For the price, this is probably the best value one out there. Before cooking food in it, make sure to turn it on highest temp for at least 20 to 30 mins. There is a very strong chemical smell that needs to get burnt off.

One gripe I have with it is the physical timer knob does not work very well. So if you need to cook something that needs precise timing, you would need to use an external timer to track. On top of the fact that it's hard to set a precise time with analog timer, it also seems to turn it self off before getting to zero mins for some reason.

Aside from that, the heating elements and air circulation works well and can get food very crispy. The non stick coating also works very well but I'm not sure how this will hold up over long term but again this is just a $18 air fryer. Totally recommendable

Oh don't get me wrong, we outgrew the 3.7qt fryer RIGHT away. Hence its now relegated to travel duties. But for $18 to try it out and see if air frying is as good as everyone says it is? This is still a very slick deal. I wouldn't say its any more disingenuous of them to say this feeds 3-4 people as it is for an automaker to give you best case scenario MPGs. You can make it work for 3-4 people, yes you'll have to put in some extra effort to make it work, but it is doable. If space is at a premium for you (and if cost is a major concern) this is absolutely doable IMO.

I have an 8 quart that's seldom used and this same model used almost daily (2 people). And for me, analog control is quicker and easier.
Getting another one for a backup at this price.

Pretty darn cheap. Picked one up and we returned out mega zone Ninja to Costco I think 11 qt as it just wasn't air frying right.
