Thanks for posting the review.

Just to note that InnoGrit IG5236 is actually a problematic controller reported many times (e.g., on XPG S70, Acer GM7000, and SP XS70) on reddit.

I thought the same thing when I got the alert email.

I was wondering if they were making SSDs in 5.25" format?

Of course we all know, this is just another case of a Chinese company buying another old and trusted American name and trying to make a couple bucks off of it.

TBH, this is what the big name SSD price should have been if it wasn't the recent price manipulation…oh well, I guess that's the world we are in right now… anyone knows how reliable these are? TLC/QLC? I am tempted at least…

were you born yesterday or what? we have HDD company that experiences random factory fires or floods or whatever the reason was every other year to artificially boost up the HDD price due to 'shortage'.

until cheap SSD came along, and all of a sudden those flood and fires no longer impact the HDD factories.

and we also had samsung and micron nand factory fires that spiked price in ssd a few years ago until china was able to produce nand, and all of sudden that helps samsung and micron to keep their fire under control.

LOL, it's only a matter of time before they find a way to ban these cheap SSDs and Samsung/WD/Micron factory suddenly starts to catch fire again. 😂

Google must be broken, but here you go:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verbatim_(brand)

"Verbatim is a brand for storage media and flash memory products currently owned by CMC Magnetics Corporation (CMC), a Taiwanese company that is known for optical disc manufacturing. Formerly a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical, the global business and assets of Verbatim were sold to CMC Magnetics in 2019 at an estimated price of $32 million USD.[1][2]"

Hmmm, Verbatim ya say.... I didn't know they made SSD's, I'm fairly certain they don't, but it's not hard to slap your name on someone else's product in today's market place. Even still, the capacity is great and the price is right if it performs according to spec.

For me it was optical disks. They made the dual layer DVD's once that became a thing.
