I had a RM750E that from day one made a horrible buzzing noise, probably a bad capacitor. I was outside the 14 day return period when I built the system and needed to go through Corsair support. It took me WEEKS of back and forth with Corsair to get resolution, including recordings of the sound, photographs, multiple scans of the receipt, and CS agents ignoring previous responses and asking the same questions again and again. When they finally agreed to replace the PSU, they didn't have the 750E in stock and sent me a 1000E replacement. That works much better, and because my system (7800X3D with RTX 4070) doesn't draw enough power to turn the fan on, it runs dead silent.

But - I would probably just steer clear of these PSUs unless you don't care about noise. I also think twice before buying Corsair now as the support was not what I expected.

Yes 750 is plenty for this build. 4070 is super energy efficient. 14700 is overkill for that gpu.

Lower quality, not low quality. HEC is the OEM, which is known for low to midrange PSUs. The RMe is a solid midrange that has a 7 year warranty vs the 10 year warranty of the higher end stuff.

I personally would prefer getting a CWT, Seasonic, or Super Flower-based PSU.

Before you act so condescending and high and mighty, why don't you read up on the ATX 3.0 and PCI-E 5.0 power specs that were released in March 2022.

Trying to collect parts on sale or clearance for a new modern build. Is 750 enough for one or two m2 ssds, a i7 14700, 64gb ram, rtx 4070, AIO and lights and fan on something like a 4000D.

Without the K or overstocks, probably but 850 would be preferred.

I am not up to date on the newest chips tho.. it used to be..
I am thinking 850 too based on these estimates from online calculators

More than enough. People tend to suggest over-speeced power but most of the system dont use more than 400W unless they run benchmark test

Good deal. Tier-A psu as well. Short of an i9, rtx 4090 combo, this will do the job just fine.

Parts list: m.2 ssd 10w max for pci4.0,14700k maxes out at 253w, non k maxes around 220w, 64gb of ram is about 8-12w if you're using 4 sticks, 4-6w if you use 2 sticks, 4070 is 200w, rgb 360mm aio is 15w, 4000d can handle 6-120mm fans (assuming lian li uni fans 3-15w).
Total will be around 600watts so a 750w is perfectly fine.
Imo if you're building with gaming in mind the 7800x3d is the better option: more fps, lower thermals, lower wattage. Also the 4000d is a fine case but screams basic bitch, if I may make a suggestion a lian li lancool II mesh c is very easy to build in and comes better equipped.

(^fyi best current prices aren't always shown so shop around)
If you want an matx or itx or an all air cooled build just ask.

Read up on modern gpu transient spikes. I used to think exactly like you did but it's not as simple as you think.
