Scroll wheel breaks after regular use. Well known issue. It's why this deal comes up literally every 2 weeks. $18 for this quality mouse isn't bad at all but you're basically renting it till it breaks which could be a month could be a year, maybe you're lucky and it never breaks.

It's a gamble.

Source: I owned one before it broke. Used for about 9 months.

Don't let the reputiable brand name fool you. This mouse is awful with how reliable the scroll wheel breaks. My first one lasted 2 months. The focused reviews on Amazon are positive, but search for 'wheel' or 'scroll' in the comments and you'll see just how many have issues.

There's an absolutely hilarious thread worth reading (exact same product) just for the comments alone Stick Out Tongue

https://slickdeals.net/f/17242981-evga-x17-wired-optical-gaming-mouse-grey-18-free-shipping-w-prime-...

please bear in mind when I say that I'm NOT trying to insult anyone who posted any of the comments, just that I found them and the back-and-forth with the comments to be rather funny Smilie .. but also a lot of good, useful info in there too so absolutely worth a read

One of the comments mentioned that they got four years use out of the mouse, another mentioned that they've been using the mouse since July.. of course I'm sure all those people who posted negative amazon reviews aren't lying either so it's true it is a gamble (plus of course the people who posted on this thread stating they had a problem just like what's stated in the amazon reviews in terms of the mouse wheel breaking - I'm guessing there's a reason this mouse keeps going on sale :Smilie )

If you can wait until Black Friday, the Redragon M913 went on sale for $31 when I bought it for my son a few days after BF in November 2023

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...=UTF8&th=1

or you could set up a pricewatch on camelcamelcamel and wait for the price to fall to something you'd prefer though I'm guessing the $31 black friday sale won't happen again until black friday 2024 (currently it's selling for $44)

One reason I suggest it is that it's older "cousin" the reddragon M901 lasted my son over five years before he eventually noticed it was double clicking .. the strange thing is when I took the mouse from him and put it on my PC to see if the same thing happened I never experienced any double clicking so I'm still using this five year old mouse now as I type this without any problems Smilie , paid $35 for it way back in the year 2018 (before our unfortunate current day issues with inflation of course but that was in May 2018 so not even a Black Friday deal) .. so not sure what happened with my son .. he's happy with his Redragon M913 in any case. Tom's Hardware liked the M913 too.

Don't do it. I had the wireless version. The back button gets hit when you pick up the mouse (at end range to scoot it over)

And there are too many profiles which are easy to switch into. (I disable that button for a while but the back button was a deal killer for me)

Ordered 1 and I liked how it feels so gambled on a 2nd one. Can't find any good deals on a gaming mouse. I figure this is as good as it's going to get post covid.

Looks like a pretty good gaming mouse for the price, let us know how you end up liking them.

eVGA for life!

Lol, I always liked their products. Aren't they not making GPU's anymore though?

Hard pass with this mouse, got one, had issues, so RMA'ed it and EVGA makes you pay for shipping to them, got it back, worked for a month or so, and failed again, same issue

not worth it really, don't know what's up with quality control but shipping the mouse back to them on failure makes this deal pretty poor

This mouse will be dead after a few weeks of scrolling. My MX518 doesn't know death, just keeps going. I still have the one I bought in 2006 and used daily for 10 years as a backup in case my 502 ever gives up the ghost.

Used one of these mice for quite a while without encountering any of the issues people have mentioned, though they're clearly widespread. If you don't mind the risk, it's nice for the price. The high DPI was great. However (as is pretty obvious from the pictures, but just to confirm), these things are very not ambidextrous.

Once again this mouse is junk with a ton of known issues and it's ALWAYS $18 because it's junk and they're trying to fool people into buying out the excess stock of these. Of which there is a lot. Because this mouse sucks and has terrible QA.

This "deal" pops up every few days it seems like and multiple people (myself included) always post warnings about this mouse but it keeps coming back.

Hey StrifeZero this isn't a good deal and it isn't a good product. Please stop posting this garbage. You on EVGA's payroll or something? Is this just some bot that picks up the same crap all the time? We're tired of trying to warn people about this product please stop posting it.
