A far better option is the DJI Osmo Action 3 or 4. I've never had a failure, the battery life is amazing (no "Enduro" battery needed), the image quality matches(3) or exceeds(4) GoPro, and the price recently dropped on the Osmo Actions making them the far superior choice.
Then there's always the question of do you really need an action camera? Phones often have great cameras now. Unless mounting in a dubious location (like in a wheel well, on a helmet, or on an FPV drone) then many phones capture just as good wide angle shots.
Long story short, I've used every iteration of GoPro since the original Hero, and aside from the Hero 2 (their last reliable camera) I'd avoid GoPro like the plague. Anyway... Hope that helps ease some of the frustration you may have.

** One point of advice I must stress, or warn, everyone about when you first handle a GoPro is to NOT PULL THE TINY BLACK MIC COVER OFF THE SIDE OF THE UNIT. I say this as someone who read all the warnings, and still managed to do it. If you do, just use some crazy glue to stick it back into place.
Has anyone even looked at the sellers feedback? lol
Anyway purchased this last week and the camera was just as good as new.
Only thing beat up was the box.
