Agreed. Say no to anything TurboTax until they pay back the people they've robbed.

Freetaxusa sounds like scam website. Wondering if it is as secure as Turbo Tax.
It's official and backed by the gov. It totally does sound scammy AF though, I had to double check the first time I heard about it. Caveat is that it is only free for Federal taxes. Most tax services has extra charge for State taxes filing. I think there's some limits too, if your tax situation is a bit more complex it might not cover.

I do my taxes in both turbo tax and cash app to make sure totals match up within a dollar (since Turbo tax catches some situations and tax cuts better) then submit for free with cash app once satisfied.

turbo tax only makes you pay when ready to submit or preview forms. it shows your obligations, etc for free.
Seconded. I always use both TurboTax and Cash App for taxes to make sure I'm not missing something. Don't have to pay for TurboTax until you are actually filing. Cash App Taxes works well enough.

Thirded. Just filed my federal taxes through cash app and it was a breeze. They are doing state taxes as well but not all of the states are open yet. I filed federal through cash app and filed MD state taxes directly with the state using their iFile software matching both with TurboTax to make sure the amounts are correct.

FreeTaxUSA does participate in the IRS Free File program [irs.gov], with free state filing for all states, but only if your AGI is $45,000 or less. TurboTax and H&R Block TaxCut quit the IRS program a couple of years ago because they weren't allowed to upsell paid services.

FreeTaxUSA charges $14.99 for a State Return. Online Taxes only charges $9.95 for a state return. It gets 4.8 out of 5-star reviews.. They guarantee their calculations are 100% accurate!!

Which of these free filing options allows you to log into your brokerage and bank accounts and automatically pull/import 1099 and other tax documents, automatically?

I have yet to find one...

Went to get our '22 tax folder to begin our "23 taxes, and saw printed in bold letters "Future Karen and Fred, do NOT use Cash app to file your '23 taxes". Now I remember the experience was horrible.

yes, cash app taxes really sucks if you need to do anything a little complicated. OG credit karma tax was good. I bit the bullet and went back to turbotax this year

Federal is Free. State is not free though. $14.99/state filing. Been doing my taxes with them for last couple of years and been happy.
