Euro L and really any LL04 certified oil is optimized for diesel engines with DPF filters (need low SAPS) and I wouldn't run it in gas engines.

I own a 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth and can't determine if Valvoline European Vehicle Full Synthetic oil meets the Chrysler Standard MS-10896? For whatever reason, the owner's manual states that the oil used must meet this standard, yet checking the Valvoline site this standard is not mentioned, even in the specifications broadsheet.

I was debating getting this for my Fiat since it's SN rated, but the Chrysler MS I need isn't listed. I could use ranch dressing in my Sequoia, but the Fiat feels like a time bomb.
I too have an Abarth and even checked the Valvoline site's datasheet on this oil to determine if it meets the Chrysler Standard MS-10896. Nothing there.

Then again, before I was aware of that standard I put ANY 5w-40 full synthetic oil in my car without worry, buying specifically what's on sale. At 120k miles it runs great, so I'm in for two.

Not sure about time bomb - mine's more like a grenade.

I've used Pennzoil twice in my life. Both times I had to make major repairs after. Oil driven cam chain tensioner failed within a few days on my Audi. Used it in my truck and the thing sounded like it needed a major valve job. Loud as hell. Both times I drained the oil immediately and put new oil in. Both the cars still run.
Common problem on Audi's. How much did it cost to fix?

Depends on the make year and model but it's not that common especially at low miles.

I fixed it myself in a couple hours but it was PITA next to the firewall.

My neighbor, uncle and I own the same exact Audi. None of them have had the cam tensioner fail. My other Audi hasn't either. All have about 200k miles.

Could be a coincidence but I haven't had the issue again. Nobody I know uses Pennzoil and I now see why.

This Pennzoil is what I've always bought for the price/specs and this is an amazing price especially for three 5-quart jugs.
That's an amazing price but the weight I need 0w-40 is $102 for the three 5 qt jugs. Crazy price difference.

Wow what a thorough and helpful explanation - read the back of the container of the Pennzoil Euro L he linked, its all diesel related.

My understanding is also that LL04 makes compromises in performance so that it doesnt hurt the DPF in comparison to LL01.
