This is a superb watch at this price point. It is basically a remake / update of the classic NY0040 series. The main difference is the case diameter was expanded from 40mm to 42mm. The NY0040 was legendary for ruggedness and reliability. It is worthy alternative to the Seiko SKX009 which has been discontinued.

Key features:

This is a true dive watch, not some cosmetic wannabe. Notice the printing on the dial, "Automatic Diver's 200M". That means this is an ISO certified dive watch that can withstand depths up to 200M. It's predecessor, the NY0040 was standard issue to the Italian Navy divers and had been tested to over 500M!
Unidirectional rotating bezel.
The lume is excellent and will last the entire night.
The crown is screw down, standard for a 200M rated dive watch.
The placement of the crown on the left hand side is to help prevent digging into the back of the hand/wrist.
The 8203 movement is non-hacking, automatic self winding that also can be hand wound.

I would agree with an earlier poster to get one with a bracelet, which is a mixed bag (same as the one on the NY0040). The endpieces are hollow and the links are folded metal which screams cheap. But, the clasp is excellent with a racheting sliding feature to quickly expand to fit over a wetsuit sleeve.

Bottom line, this watch is the real deal. You will love this watch.

I have this in the black dial. Excellent watch that keeps great time. I paid $88 for mine on an Amazon deal just before valentine day a few years ago.
Are you sure that was the mechanical watch? I picked up a quartz eco drive divers watch at that price.

Does it take getting used to having the crown on the left side? Mainly asking those who wear on the left wrist

You can get a 20.00 discount also by entering your email. Try to find one that has the 8204 movement that hacks, the 8203 does not hack. Mineral glass instead of sapphire could be a deal breaker for some.
Discount code is only off $250 total purchase.

Most importantly, does it come in the fun scuba tank-esque holder, or the regular Citizen cardboard box?

I believe this is a Left-Handed watch (that you wear on your right hand). So Right-Handed people beware, you might not like this. It will be awkward.

I have the "Coke" version and Love it, its a little big at 42mm but I can still pull it off with a 6.5" wrist. The bottom of the case design is so good it hides the thickness. This one will stay in my collection forever!

Odd pIacement for sure. PeopIe might think it is a knock-off watch as it has this unusuaI crown position.

SS bracelet version is available for slightly more (+$11). Well worth it IMHO. A citizen divers bracelet alone can run over $100.

I see $189 for the SS bracelet version. Wish it had sapphire and wasn't for Lefty's

Of course it can be worn on the right wrist, but it's not a "left-handed watch," per se.

The placement of the crown at the 8 o'clock position is intentional, the idea being to minimize crown digging, which takes place when your arm is positioned downward and you angle your hand upward.

I own many of these Citizen Pro Divers, and have never found the crown position to be a problem. When winding, I merely turn the watch upside down, and then it operates like normal. I also set the time that way, which, granted, involves reading the time upside down, but it's not something I do often, and (in my eyes at least), it adds to the charm.

Care to elaborate a bit on why one would want the movement that 'hacks'?
if you are working with a diving team, or part of a military squad, or if everyone is going shopping by themselves but you want everyone to meet up at a specific time...you can use the hacking feature to get all watches in sync. watches can + or - five to 25 every day. but in the course of a few hours it's negligible, and ever at the end of the day the time difference between watches will be in the 3-10 second range, and that's usually accurate enough.

I'm right handed, but wear my Apple Watch with the crown on the left because with the crown on the right, when I wear gloves the crown would dig into my wrist. With the crown on the left, this doesn't happen. I only started doing this a year or so ago. It didn't take any time to get used to it.

Guess it depends upon your point of reference, knowledge of watches and personal preferences. $160 is very reasonable for an automatic with these features and quality. If you are looking for a disposable beater, then go to Walmart. They have watches that sell for less than $20.

Personally, I would have no problem wearing this Citizen every day if I was limited to owning only one watch but thankfully not the case!

Can't anyone switch out the strap with a compatibIe one? lt doesn't have to be from that brand. Anyway, imho these siIicone straps get gummy after some time and based on the environmentaI conditions it is exposed to...so why pay more?
