I know this may be a bit subjective but which is an overall better TV - this or Hisense 100" U8K (not considering price difference)?

If you trust rtings ...
Q80 wins on build quality, viewing angle, response time,
U8 wins on contrast, blooming, zone transitions, brightness, color, uniformity. reflections, sound.

They also have a comparison snippet with U7H.

The people over reddit don't recommend either of them. The Hisense is not recommended due to QA/QC concerns, and the Q80 due to the ADS panel.

In my opinion the U8K is clearly a better TV if you are OK with the QA/QC concerns.

note:
I have a 100" U8K on order, that is expected to be delivered in couple of weeks. I am still doing my research, but I don't see any other better TVs being available in my price range right now.

I would pick a Sony XL90 if it was available in my budget.
