Bunion Surgery

Well it has been a couple of years since my last surgery so I guess I am due, right? Annoyed

As a kid seeing the bunions on my grandmother's feet I thought they were like calluses..... they are not. it's basically your toe bone dislocating itself, fun times.

I have the goobers and am extremely independent and don't want to be unable to walk or drive too long.

There is a procedure called a modified McBride and it only has a 2 week in walking boot downtime then back to reg shoes if able. No hospital stay, twilight sedation with a local and no metal inserted. They remove a sesamoid bone and shave part of the outward knuckle.

Seemed like the best option. Most other options require 8 to 12 weeks off the foot and includes metal.

After being on the internet TOO much I am having some anxiety Stick Out Tongue go figure.

I read threads in Reddit's sub-forum as googled for medical journal articles and while this is prob ok, it might be better to get a procedure called Chevron. From what I am finding it's 6- 8 weeks in a walking boot and includes metal but a slightly less occurrence of things shifting and needing more work.

Anyone here have any experience with either?

I also want to be healed up before late spring so I can take care of my yard and plants.

Bella seems like she'd be a very cautious driver... unless a rubber ball suddenly bounced out in front of the car.
The ball would distract Loki, not Bella.. but any squirrel, turkey, deer, bird... plastic bag, inflatable decor etc and she will lose her mind and over the cliff we'd go laugh out loud

My neighbor who is driving me.. plans on planting crap in my head beforehand so I will say something embarrassing while under anesthesia. Facepalm I am tempted to give the staff a heads up and have them tell her I was talking about some neighbor burying a body Big Grin

laugh out loud nod So yeah I might drive to my Dr appt but wont anywhere else. Don't need to cause an accident.
I assumed it'd be some big clunky boot thing but he said it's more like a flat gelled shoe/sandal. I won't know for sure how bulky it is until the day of the surgery.
You could always call a toe truck Wink

Or if it's an apple watch and the dr gets a phone call.
