Wow, this is insane. Let me just start out by saying RAID is not a backup and you need to backup both new and refurbished drives.

$6.83 per GB may be an all-time low.

I've been using them for years and no issue

2018 model. These will definitely have 5+ years powered on. Pass.

Ultrastar HC550 (2020) and HC560 (2021) drives are worthwhile. The HC570s are too new and they dont have refurbs yet.

Picked up 4 of these when they hit $90 a month or 2 ago. Did extensive testing before deploying in a 24/7 RAID and have been monitoring them since with zero issues. They were a bargain at that price, and I'm glad to pick up one as a cold spare at this new price.
what did you do to extensively test them?

I plan to use diskfilltest. It was mentioned previously. There are other options though.

But these are refurbs and 5yrs old. I'd much rather pay 2x per gb for a brand new drive. These are like 70% used.

Yes they will work great for a NAS. They will work with Synology no problem.

LOL..
"The seller isn't accepting bids or offers from you."

I purchased drives from one of this seller's alternate accounts.. of which they have many. Supposedly sold me new drives -- total BS. Complained until they gave me half my money back.

It's just a little too small to displace my 10TB and 8TB drives. I think I need 16TB to buy replacements.
