If I had a vehicle exposed to salt like a wintry environment or driving on a beach, I'd probably spray the posts anyway. I've seen a few cars not start when the battery terminal looked just fine. Removed terminal, brushed, and reinstalled and started right up.

Depending on the geometry of the battery electrodes (which are generally slightly tapered) in conjunction with the tolerances of the cable terminals (and the wear and tear of each, from corrosion, etc.), these pads can get in the way -- ever so slightly -- of being able to seat the cable fully, and/or become loose over time.
That said, I have used these pads dozens of times on lots of vehicles and they only got in the way on one car. YMMV

I think I bought a similar package from a local store and it also had a grease that came with it that you're supposed to apply to the terminals on top of the leads once it's installed.
