This is about what it would cost to buy all the components yourself and assemble. Additionally, Alienware use proprietary motherboard and PSUs so upgrading would be difficult. However, since this is pretty top notch components, you probably won't need to upgrade for 5-7 years.

I would say this is a decent deal if you don't want to bother building yourself or care about upgrading.

100% correct, very proprietary, so hard to upgrade or change components.

If you have a Microcenter close to you, you are way better off getting a custom system for roughly the same price.

Also, if you want this for gaming, you are way better off with a 7800X3D vs. the 7950 in this unit. If you are getting this for a creator PC with no intention of upgrades besides memory later, this is fine.

None of your scenarios make any sense. Since when do you have to buy RAM from Dell? I put RAM from Amazon in my Aurora R13. Works great.

Why can't you upgrade to a 5090 or 6090? It's a card. Take out the old, put in the new.

Your comment about MB or PS makes no sense. What are you trying to say? I didn't say you can't upgrade either...I said you won't have a need to for years and by then you're going to have to buy newer parts to go with that new MB anyways, so might as well buy a new system.

If you're a tinkerer, then sure, go buy 20 parts from 20 different manufacturers and tinker away. Most people don't want to do that. I, like many, prefer having all the parts under one warranty that can be repaired quickly.

FWIW, I was building computers probably before you were born. I know a thing or two about the pros and cons of building vs buying prebuilt. You can have an opinion about what YOU prefer, but blanket statements that nothing can be upgraded is pure misinformation.

It's a decent deal if you need one and don't want to diy.
Personally, I feel it's more fun to DIY and no need to get overpriced top end graphics card, unless you have certain games you really need that performance.

Looking back on all your posts, you really don't have anything good to say about anything here. Sort of a king of 1 or 2 word drive-by slams. Applause

Most of the population would not be able to do that. Just because you can, doesn't mean everyone else can.

I also agree, Dell's Alienware lineup is garbage quality wrapped around a great CPU and GPU.

I know a couple people that have or had an Alienware with this type of case design and all have had heat and throttling issues. I'd have to price everything out but based on the quick specs here I still think you can save a few hundred dollars by purchasing quality components and building yourself. If you can't build yourself then a couple hundred to a system builder. Probably be a better system and the warranty on many quality components is 3 to 5 years instead of this 1 year warranty on this Alienware.

Considering run of the mill 4090's are going for 2000-2500 because of China export prohibitions, this is a decent deal.

Like one commenter above, I put together a 4090 13th gen I-9 from Microcenter several months ago, and it was about 2500-2600 after it was all said and done. But I bought every part and future-proofed it since the last system I built was a 4th gen Intel (great chip) and a Nvidia 1060. So yeah, big difference haha

And yet no one can give an example or define what that is...Confused

On Dell's site, 1455 people out of 1735 gave it 5 stars. Does garbage mean something different these days, like how fat means good?

Curious which Alienware computers you've personally owned?

So tired of this type of comment. WHAT components are hard to upgrade? NOT the CPU, GPU, RAM, multiple SSD's or WIFI card. That's the majority of parts. It comes with a 1350W power supply. You would need to upgrade that, WHY? That leaves the motherboard which you most likely won't be upgrading for YEARS. By then, you're going to need a new gen CPU, new gen RAM and new Gen WIFI card (and possibly SSD if you want to keep current) to go with that new MB so you might as well buy a new system.
When you buy a high-end system like this, what is it that people upgrade that can't be upgraded here?
Those are excellent points and I agree!

Thermal throttle? That is the question with that case. They have been using this case for a long time.

Memory at 4800 and not 6000. Maybe not a deal killer but something to consider at this price.

The deal killer is the case and proprietary stuff. 🙂

You're proably right, people are generally very redacted these days. But my education and career doesn't have anything to do with technology. I didn't build a computer until I was in my late 20s. I literally followed a site like PC part picker and watched a few youtube videos about the assembly. Actual assembly took a couple hours. It's not rocket science. I'm no brainiac.

How are you able to get a custom system in microcenter? They make it for you? Or you mean prebuilts?
I'm pretty sure they have a service where you can pick the parts and they'll build it for you, also they have a line of pre builts named "PowerSpec"
