This is about what it would cost to buy all the components yourself and assemble. Additionally, Alienware use proprietary motherboard and PSUs so upgrading would be difficult. However, since this is pretty top notch components, you probably won't need to upgrade for 5-7 years.

I would say this is a decent deal if you don't want to bother building yourself or care about upgrading.

100% correct, very proprietary, so hard to upgrade or change components.

If you have a Microcenter close to you, you are way better off getting a custom system for roughly the same price.

Also, if you want this for gaming, you are way better off with a 7800X3D vs. the 7950 in this unit. If you are getting this for a creator PC with no intention of upgrades besides memory later, this is fine.

None of your scenarios make any sense. Since when do you have to buy RAM from Dell? I put RAM from Amazon in my Aurora R13. Works great.

Why can't you upgrade to a 5090 or 6090? It's a card. Take out the old, put in the new.

Your comment about MB or PS makes no sense. What are you trying to say? I didn't say you can't upgrade either...I said you won't have a need to for years and by then you're going to have to buy newer parts to go with that new MB anyways, so might as well buy a new system.

If you're a tinkerer, then sure, go buy 20 parts from 20 different manufacturers and tinker away. Most people don't want to do that. I, like many, prefer having all the parts under one warranty that can be repaired quickly.

FWIW, I was building computers probably before you were born. I know a thing or two about the pros and cons of building vs buying prebuilt. You can have an opinion about what YOU prefer, but blanket statements that nothing can be upgraded is pure misinformation.

Chase Freedom doesn't give 5% cashback on Dell this quarter though. Wonder which Chase CC you're referring to?
Saphire reserve has it

I'm also curious about that.
I have only received less than three in many years.
The current one got from this month expires May 24.

What do you mean adding Amex multiple times?

Like:
1. $590 = $120?
2. $599 = $120?
3. $599 = $120 ?

Amex gives you statements for each?
Using one Amex credit card?
Three.

The strategy may vary (YMMV) and the 15% coupon may only applies to me - I don't know why they sent it to me.

But others can use 10% coupon, and the idea of leveraging Amex offers in conjunction with cashback (CB) is helpful for credit card churners.

Years ago, I got an Alienware from Dell with better offer stacked 10% + $120 Amex offer + $200 credit for each of three cards. The CB was also higher at 15% (22.5% when applied towards flight ticket purchases).

This R15 only supports 2 RAM with max of 64GB, which is a downgrade, so I'll wait.

$2,215 to my door after cashback with no taxes. Urgh. I couldn't pass it up... you can't build a 4090 rtx machine of this specs for 2300 yourself.

Lol still can't tell if you are being sarcastic? But it is a great deal with a 10% sign up coupon for the mailing list, 10% cash back from a popular website, 5% cash back split between two chase cards (each 5% up to $100).

Add in $75 of dell rewards too. I should have bought my ecobee premium from them not last week. But no sense of returning it since I used a 40 off of 200 dell Amex offer.

Where do u see 10% CB for Dell? They have been very stingy since end of last year offering lower rates for laptops/Alienware compared to accessories etc.. (bestbi can see rn is 6%..its been like 1-2% for last couple months)

Original $2,899.99
After applying a 15% targeted coupon from Dell, the price drops to $2,464.99.
Subsequently, with a cashback (CB) of 10% or an effective 15% when considering the value equivalent to a flight ticket, the cost reduces to $2,095.24.
Further deductions through a $120 Amex offer applied three times bring the price down to $1,735.24.
Finally, utilizing $200 Amex Dell credits three times lowers the total to $1,135.24.

Final Price: $1,135.24 + Tax, with an additional benefit of earning 3% in 7,395 rewards points, equivalent to $70 redeemable at Dell in the future.

Given this pricing, should I proceed with the purchase? Probably not. I'll likely wait for the 5090 model, anticipating a price around $1,000 in the future.

The primary motivation for purchasing a Dell Alienware would be its price-to-value ratio.
You paid those $200 Amex Biz Plat credits in the form of annual fees, not quite free but you do you
