The DeChoker resulted in gross injury to the tongue and failed to remove the obstruction in all trials. LifeVac was successful in removing the barium‐moistened saltines but failed to remove all other foreign bodies. Both devices applied significant pressure to the tongue.
i see people downvoting others, but the above is a medical study on two commonly available choking devices, including the one which this deal is for. seems a bit like snake oil to me as well

You'll panic trying to locate the device wasting precious time that could have been used doing the Heimlich maneuver and calling 911. You'll find it and then discover the victim has passed out. You'll shove it in and probably cause some trauma to the mouth which will cause a lot of bleeding. You'll pull back on the device trying to "suction" out the object only to find the path of least resistance will likely be the gases and contents of the stomach. So you'll pull back and fill the mouth with stomach contents and blood. Shortly after this you'll try again, thanks to the dead space as you reverse the plunger some of the pulled up contents will then be pressured back down the throat possibly making the object causing the choking to get further stuck.... You'll pull harder the next try which will then collapse the fragile airway and mouth tissues causing nothing to come out, but you did at least succeed in causing more airway damage.
It's about this time the ambulance shows up and discovers the horror show you've managed to create. We'll suction and suction but never fully clear the airway of blood and stomach debris... we'll try to look into the airway and try to find the obstruction, but fail because of all the crap we're trying to look through... We'll do CPR while we try to cut open the throat in a useless attempt to get air into the lungs.... Shortly after we'll pronounce your loved one dead and they'll lay on the kitchen floor covered in a sheet waiting for the medical examiner to show up while you describe to the police what happened.
...maybe just save your money and learn basic first aid from a local class and call 911??
For the record, the FDA says this is a safe and effective device. Are you disagreeing with our public health authority? I'll wait.
It's registered in a FDA inspected facility, it is not approved. They worded that intentionally to mislead people, which tells me everything I need to know about the company. If the FDA is your holy grail, this might be of interest.

As far as anti-science, they linked to a study normally done by physicians and researchers. Results can differ so one would review multiple studies before making a decision, but that IS science.
What do you think the FDA requires for approval?
I'll wait.
I bought a 3 pack of the life vac and it's kept in very specific places like you would a fire extinguisher. You don't buy something like this and throw it in some random closet or drawer.
I believe he used a life vac and not a dechoker.
I chose the lifevac over the dechoker for a couple of reasons. It is simpler, it's a plunger over the mouth and that's it. The dechoker has the tongue depressor which makes insertion more difficult and I worry about the dechoker plunger stick breaking.

I have not used the Dechoker; comment is just based off Dr. recommendation, my personal research and health.

Additionally, there is a right and wrong way to perform the Heimlich, and even courses and learning dont guarantee that a person in a high stress level situation can properly control their emotions and adrenalin.
I think these serve their purpose in the right situation. I would take tongue damage over death any day.
