About this TV Series:
Frasier is a half-hour comedy series set in Seattle, WA, which chronicles the lives of an eloquently pompous radio show host Dr. Frasier Crane, his brazen radio producer Roz, his competitive, high-brow brother Niles, their crotchety father Martin and his quirky live-in nurse Daphne.
Yeah. That was the understanding for a long time. But they decided to do it anyway since they were starting the 'new' Frasier series. They released blu-rays last year.
Anyone who is interested in buying this - just a warning that the SD quality is very poor. I already had the full set on DVDs and had ripped my own copies. But at one time the series was on sale on iTunes and I figured I'll buy it, so I can just stream the iTunes version. As soon as I played one episode I realized the quality of my own rips was so much superior. The iTunes version had a horribly low bitrate and had just an unacceptable level of artifacts in low light scenes. I immediately requested a refund. Luckily for me, the bu-rays were released just the following year, and I got them on release date.
Funnily enough - now that I have both versions I think the SD version (I.e. my own rip from DVDs) is better looking than the HD version — apart from the resolution of course. The HD version has a grainy look. I don't know if they artificially added it, or it's an artifact of the re-editing they had to do. But personally I don't like that artificial grain. The DVDs definitely have a cleaner look, albeit at lower resolution.
They started streaming the 4K version on Paramount+ though they changed the aspect ratio to 16:9. I do wonder whether they will ever sell the 4K version. I wouldn't mind buying that version.
Waiting for a package deal with this along with tossed salad and scrambled eggs.
Also, Fraiser is a top 10 all-time comedy tv show. Significantly underrated.

Underrated by who? I mean I'm not a fan but I do know it was hugely popular and was constantly nominated and or won Emmys.
No bitterness intended.. I'm just sensitive as a fan of It Always Sunny Which has only been nominated three times... for stunts. That is significantly underrated.
Although I applaud attempts to show more variety in casting, history and lived experience in American media, it too often seems contrived and clunky. That may be their inability to modulate it with more finesse. Or it could be that after almost a century of the media pumping out nearly exclusively stories of, by and for "white culture," anything that differs from that will produce dissonance.
Politicians that use change like this to push the "woke" dog-whistle nonsense, trying to provoking fear and lack of reflection in citizens are not doing us any favors.
And Hollywood does not do the public any favors when they disproportionately represent life styles that are a distinct minority of our culture as being typical or commonplace

I'd rather watch Archie roast Meat Head than Raymond or Fraiser.
