I bought one of these during the Labor Day deal. It had some blemishes on the case but the internals looked brand new. Fired right up and ran perfectly.

With the recent storms in California, we lost our power for 3 days. This little guy kept our fridge and freezer running and cold and saved us a ton on food! We ran it pretty consistently for those three days.

We also used it to run some lights, a TV, and our internet router so we had TV for the duration of the outage.

There is a design flaw where it sucks air from the bottom so don't place it on grass, dirt, sand; place it on a board or something to keep it from vacuuming debris into it.

For $200 this generator is amazing and does everything we needed it to do.

Given your use case (similar to mine) you should invest in one of those large battery systems like Ecoflow sells to pair with your generator.

I got one of the bigger ones and it can run my fridge, internet, and phones for 28hrs on a single charge. My generator takes 2 hours to charge it back up to full.

It saves you a massive amount on gas. Useful for us where there is no cell service and the nearest gas station is 40 minutes away. The Creek Fire was our "proof of concept" moment when roads were closed for 3 weeks. All the neighbors ran out of gas week 1.

We have a small generator to top off the battery, as well as a 12500w starting to run the entire house+well when needed.

I bought this previously too, great generator. I've heard it's a bit of a gamble, some people got old looking generators. Personally mine was brand new inside the case, with a well used and sun faded case.

This puppy is loud, it's no Honda. And the air intake on the bottom is just dumb.

But, you won't find a better inverter generator for cheaper than this

What a great idea, basically a more efficient hybrid power system. Like the person above, which power bank/how big did you go with?

I have an ecoflow delta max 1600.
There are better options on the market now (with LiFePo4 batteries) but this one will suit my needs just fine.

Seconding this - I got one of these 2000/1600's and it works alright. The other 3200/2900W gen I got at the same time, however, did not - but I got a refund without having to return the item.. so I ended up getting the 4000/3200W dual fuel unit instead - which also works well.

It's hard to beat for the money, but yes - you generally shouldn't run this thing directly on dirt where its intake might pick up debris - simple solution really, just stick a piece of plywood or similar under it.

If I were to only use this for an emergency, which may or may not happen this year, how long should the 'shelf life' of this be?

Should I start it up upon receipt and then perform the storage process?

How long should one revive the machine between storage periods?

For comparison, the Honda EU2200i is rated at 48dB @ 1/4 load and the Firman W01682F is rated at 54dB @ 1/4 load.

For reference, 50dB is 1/4 as loud as 70dB & 40dB is 1/8 as loud as 70dB which is just an arbitrary base of comparison.

You absolutely want to run it when you get it to make sure everything is working ok.

Other than that, it's not a good idea to leave gas in them, it'll gum up the carb and cause problems. This is one of the reasons I really like dual fuel units for situations where they might only be used once or twice a year.

As a refurb, you should absolutely start it & run it for at least an hour once you get it, testing it with actual loads to ensure it works as advertised. It should be able to power a kettle, space heater or other similar ~1500W load without issue. Use ethanol-free gas if you can find it, or an ethanol fuel stabilizer if you can't.

These don't come with oil, so you have to provide that yourself. Once you confirm it's working, you can run the carb dry & shut it off by using the fuel shutoff - that's generally good enough for mid-term storage where you expect to run the generator again within 6 months. If you intend to store it longer than that, you should empty the tank and use the petcock valve on the carb to drain it completely.

Ethanol free gas is also a much better bet for storage. Still run the carb dry before storing, but the no-ethanol fuel will start very reliably after storage.
