I use them for lawn care, the grass in the morning is always wet, and walking thru the grass will soak your shoes quickly. The gore tex with the low top is very comfortable and I have never had any wet feet for the months last year that I used them.
Hiking might be a bit different tho.

Goretex on low topped shoes is a big gimmick. The second you get water or snow in the top of your shoe, it's going to be difficult for the water to air out of the semi permeable membrane. Without proper fitting gaiters you'll be boned.
If you're backpacking in these its going to take longer for them to air out when you setup camp also.

Not a gimmick if you want low top waterproof shoes. Plenty of use cases for these.
