I have a Rachio Gen.2 16 zone controller and it has been working very well for several years now, not a single failure. I'm thinking about upgrading to Gen. 3. I checked my rebate eligibility through my SoCal Water Rebate program and it appears that I am not eligible for the rebate because I already received one for the same type of equipment at the same address. For those who are new to smart controllers, check the rebates from your water district. This can cover almost the full cost of the item.

There was a recent deal from Costco for 12 Zone Rachio 3 for $100. Easy to install and set up.

Is the 16 Zone the same as this one [amazon.com] on Amazon ? I've been watching that one and I don't think it's ever come close to $125. $125 seems like a great price.

Edit: Also, is their weatherproof enclosure necessary if mounting outdoors?

I'm currently using a Hunter with their WiFi Wand but the Wifi has been very sporadic and finicky

These are amazing. Check your local water supply company for additional rebates. I got 50% back when I installed mine a few years ago.
