How is this vs MSI? Also, is DDR4 a dealbreaker. Need to run heavy design softwares and hoping the Ram is expandable to 32 GB

13th Gen Intel CPU are almost always paired with ddr5 with the exception of a few weird iBP and CyberPower pre built setups I have seen, but most of those were from before, during the part shortage.

And yes, actual specs show it is. Good call.

I bought the AMD/4080 version of this, its worked well so far; weighs like a brick though so really best for desktop replacement. Fans are not too obnoxious even under load, I'm getting decently good temps playing Warzone when connected to a 1440 ultrawide monitor (low 70s).

I've been debating between this laptop and the desktop linked below. Thought?
Need a replacement for my current old Dell XPS desktop.

The Desktop's processor is roughly 12% faster and has solid DDR 5 ram, the gpu's are about a wash considering mobile versions of the cards are inherently slower due to limited boost speeds

I would go with the desktop, as it gives you the ability to upgrade your GPU down the line once Unreal 5 games become more common place. Dont forget the 10% discount (just make a new account on a diff email if you already used :-)
