As someone who was in the music industry, I can definitely say that Sonos makes high quality equipment. I've owned many brands over the years and Sonos consistently delivers. I've bought over a dozen pieces of Sonos equipment...mostly speakers. The engineering, the materials, the simplicity of use is all really very good. This is why I continue to buy more Sonos products every year. My latest purchase was the Move2 a few weeks ago. It looks & sounds great!

You are right. Can't change their minds. Let them eat cake.
I have 12 sonos ones. I use them for patio, around outside, garage and kitchen. Not home theater. They are still fine for more years.
Sonos no longer have cornered the market with convenient control.

They are $119.99 each and have GREAT quality. I don't know how to compare terms of quality to the ones from OP but I can tell you from personal experience that I'm very happy with these speakers. I personally have seven of them in my house….

will these pair/group/sync properly with the old sonos play1 and sonosOnes?
i bought era100, placed it on the kitchen and made it my main alexa. it doesn't work well with my old sonos system when playing from music service like apple or amazon music. works fine though with local music library. I ended up just swapping it with sonosOne that is on the bedroom. I guess i better be mindful with new toys breaking your whole ecosystem.

Era 100 and SYMFONISK Bookshelf (Gen 2) are listed as "S2 required" so my guess would be that SYMFONISK will behave similarly to the Era 100 for you.

I'm with you there. I use my Sonos setup the most, but it's also not my favorite sounding. If I could sit in front of my KEF Reference 5s more often than I currently do, I absolutely would. I'm not knocking Sonos, really, but should have emphasized that their most expensive components aren't necessary to get the most out of the ecosystem. If I could do it over again I'd get a Sonos amp and/or bridge to integrate certain components and broadcast throughout the house.
I think I'm still reeling a bit from the sheer cost versus performance of the Arc, era 300s, and sub when my Samsung HW-Q950A sounded leagues above for cinema and was half the cost. For music, the sound experience is comparable, but if it weren't for the ecosystem I'd have returned the Sonos stuff immediately. I love Sonos, I really do, and use them the most, but I think we've also been spoiled by great audiophile sound to begin with. I just hope to share realistic expectations for people considering what their intended uses will be for Sonos.
