It has 4GB eMMC storage on board.

Which means that it does have a finite life, and can't be replaced.

Whether that's a factor in practical usage depends on what the chip is rated for, and how much recording is done.

With Ring jacking up their price for users on the lowest plan, I've started looking into alternatives.

They all seem to have small compromises in some fashion, and what I dislike about the Eufy is that it isn't compatible with existing built-in chimes. I don't want to rely on a plug-in.

Also takes a leap of faith to buy from a company that obfuscated, and resisted acknowledging their privacy lapses, before finally coming clean [theverge.com].

Been using this since 2020 and no issues. Survives MN winters/summers, good buy in my book.

Part of why I was happy to stick with them was that I was only using homebase, not their cloud based storage. Probably the part that most people were upset about was that there was a default setting that saved thumbnails to their cloud storage, despite Anker/Eufy claiming there was not cloud storage unless elected. Those thumbnails were to give a preview when looking at notifications from the app within the phone/tablet or whatever a user was using. They then changed that setting from being default and encrypting their stored video within 48 hours (reported by The Verge in a prior article). The next biggest issue is it took them about a month for them to speak to anyone outside of the company about it and acknowledge that there was an error. Considering how long it takes to get such disclosures like this cleared through legal departments, I wasn't surprised it took a month, but not surprised it upset people.

Appreciate your sharing the last article in the string. The author of the series for The Verge (and ethical hacker who discovered the video storage issue) did a great job covering this. Considering what has happened with other security companies (Ring as an example was watching customers videos, sharing them internally and making jokes about customers) I've been glad with hose well Anker/Eufy ended up handling this.

Most of the new Eufy doorbells are compatible with existing chimes, like the E340 or S330. Been waiting a sale on these, they have dual cameras so their AI can detect package delivery.

My onboard storage died in 18 months, 1 year warranty. I switched to Reolink with SD card.

This was their first video door bell. I had it for over 5 years now. Mine still works but I'm looking at their newer 340 one. Dual powered and connects to hb3.

I have nest g1 and is about to get rid of it after all these years. The resolution sucks on nest and the ring to notification delay still doesn't work after all these year.

I don't have experience with other doorbell cameras but I've had the Eufy for the past 4 years.

Video quality is good, not great.
AI motion detection is not reliable no matter the sensitivity setting. I would say it works well 80% of the time.
I've had multiple packages delivered with zero notifications.
Also, it gets really annoying sending multiple alerts a day of moving tree branches.
The app is good and the camera view loads quickly.

Have the battery one and like it overall but the battery life is atrocious, like I have to charge it more than once a month

I went eufy around 2020 I think for all house cameras and door bell. I had ring before and it sucked missing notifications and all that. Eufy has a clear image but notifications are hit or miss. I went back and forth with their support team because it wouldn't catch anything only when it felt like it, finally got a replacement which I think is worse.

I've never been able to successfully answer a doorbell ring and I have the motion set to record all motion but even then it's hit or miss.

It is free though which is a big plus compared to others and the image quality is nice. I also don't know of ANY that work very reliably so I've just accepted what I got with eufy. At 60 bucks if you don't have one I'd probably still say it's not a bad deal I think I paid double for it when 2k came out

Why is this a frontpage deal when the ring camera deal I posted for the same discounted price, which is a far superior doorbell camera, got no love?

Eufy ring cams do not last, the software is slow by the time you connect to the camera to talk to someone at your door the person is gone and the nightvision is awful.

Got rid of my poorly functioning and terrible video quality, Ring camera - and that ridiculous subscription service.

Now going on 4 1/2 years with this one. Has been pretty good with human detection in the detection zone. There have been a few instances where it didn't record a human when it definitely should have, though, but not enough times to worry about. After tweeking the sensitivity, and detection zone, no more problems.

I also have the wireless rechargeable version mounted above my garage for use as a video motion recorder - have used it for communication several times, too. It's worked perfect and hasn't had any issues.

I would disagree. My E340 works great with no lagging or issues.

I've had three of these in operation for the past few years and when they work they work well. In my experience the intelligent AI they advertise needs improvement. It does detect humans well but humans carrying boxes is another story. Also it thinks the wheel on my vehicle is a human. I created a box over the wheel so the intelligent AI will ignore my wheel but it instead just decides to ignore my ignore box.

The fov is great and audio is ok although mine tends to echo quite a bit. I have successfully used it to answer a delivery drivers press of the doorbell and other times it wouldn't connect.

The price is right to give it a try and there's no monthly fees, most likely it will be sufficient but be aware of it's possible issues.
