Yes, we are constantly hearing about your g14. Almost as often as Freedom_Penguin talking about his open box MicroCenter unicorn deal A16.

Looks are subjective. So other than that here are some other comparisons:

This machine is also a metal build.

Unlike the g14, this has two M2 slots.

The g14 has one soldered and one open ram slot, while this has all ram soldered.

This has a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello but no IR in the camera. I believe the g14 is the opposite.

This also has USBC charging with a 140w charger. 7840 HS offers about the same performance as the 7940 HS.

This has a 76 W battery and gets about the same battery life as the g14 in most testing. Thermals are better than the Asus. There's mixed info on the availability of g-sync. Some reviews say it has it with Optimus off, others say it just doesn't have it.

The g14 has a brighter, less color accurate matte IPS display.

This has a slightly less bright glossy OLED.. which, once you use an OLED, you will never want to use an IPS again.

Lastly, you bought your g14 open box for $850. This is brand new. Let's compare new vs new. For less than $100 more than the $1050 g14 you're getting double the ram, an extra m.2 slot and a gorgeous, larger, and faster responding OLED display.

G14 gets hotter. Has a worse screen. Looks cheaper. Worse software. More high chance of backlight bleed.

Only thing of concern with these 14" OLED screens is 1800 resolution. They pair these laptops with low end 4060s, but resolution is even higher than 1600 res 14" IPS displays from Asus. I don't think it will run games well at native res. You will probably have to run them at lower non native res which will hurt image quality.

What are you talking about? This laptop runs a full-watt RTX 4060. Reviews show that its gaming performance matches all other RTX 4060 laptops.

I'm talking about running games at native resolution for best image quality. I don't know if 4060 can run AAA games with high FPS at 1800 res. It's Nvidia's low tier offering. You will probably have to run screen at 1200 res most likely which is not ideal. I would much prefer 4060 to be paired up with 1200 or 1600 res screen for better performance at native res. But, seems like they don't make OLED screens in lower resolution because Asus g14 with OLED is the same.

Another option would be to run games at 1440x900 resolution which is an even 4:1 pixel ratio, (so 4 pixels evenly fit into 1 pixel at lower res) but that seems a bit low for 14" screen. I think I'd still rather run games at native resolution for best sharpness and just turn down graphics settings to compensate.

Though I agree the 4060 is not really a 2k gpu, for less intense 2d games and general use that high pixel density is worth having. Otherwise, you can enable integer scaling in both the adrenaline software and the Nvidia software and call it a day. Eliminates issues with image quality when lowering the resolution for better performance.

I just put my name. Do you think this impacts the extended warranty? I don't buy laptops without all the bells and whistles.

Don't think so, the laptop is tied to your "account"

Asking myself the same. Been in the market for a laptop for a while. This pretty much ticks all the boxes with 32gb of RAM for me and I'm thinking of biting. Didn't see any target offers via my Amex.

Kinda wish this came with a 4070, would happily pay another $200 for that.
