Yes, we are constantly hearing about your g14. Almost as often as Freedom_Penguin talking about his open box MicroCenter unicorn deal A16.

Looks are subjective. So other than that here are some other comparisons:

This machine is also a metal build.

Unlike the g14, this has two M2 slots.

The g14 has one soldered and one open ram slot, while this has all ram soldered.

This has a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello but no IR in the camera. I believe the g14 is the opposite.

This also has USBC charging with a 140w charger. 7840 HS offers about the same performance as the 7940 HS.

This has a 76 W battery and gets about the same battery life as the g14 in most testing. Thermals are better than the Asus. There's mixed info on the availability of g-sync. Some reviews say it has it with Optimus off, others say it just doesn't have it.

The g14 has a brighter, less color accurate matte IPS display.

This has a slightly less bright glossy OLED.. which, once you use an OLED, you will never want to use an IPS again.

Lastly, you bought your g14 open box for $850. This is brand new. Let's compare new vs new. For less than $100 more than the $1050 g14 you're getting double the ram, an extra m.2 slot and a gorgeous, larger, and faster responding OLED display.

G14 gets hotter. Has a worse screen. Looks cheaper. Worse software. More high chance of backlight bleed.

Kinda wish this came with a 4070, would happily pay another $200 for that.
Looks at the reviews. It's a 100w 4060. It performs equally, and in some cases better than a 4070 even in the new 2024 G14 zephyrus laptops. This is apparent in both 3dmark testing and real game benchmarks.

This is a perfect laptop. Bought one during the last sale and could not ask for anything better. Also the speakers are not as bad as the reviewers make them out to be. You just have to enable Nahimic. Night and day difference.

What's the weight on this thing?

Anybody know how loud this one gets in comparison to the Legion Slim 7 or 7i?

This deal looks pretty good, but wondering if a remanufactured legion slim 7 (same cpu and gpu) for around the same price would be much better (I care especially about noise and heat). How would you compare these options? For legion slim 7, I know I would pay a bit more afterwards to put a 16gb stick in one free mem slot, but isn't the leg slim 7 a better all around laptop?

Mind sharing which reviews has the 4060 in this out performing the 4070?

I ordered one yesterday. Got an email with a promotion for an extra 7% cash back from Capital One that finally convinced me to pull the trigger. Paid $50 to bump it up to to 1TB SSD.

Expected delivery date shows April 12. Hope I get it sooner than that.

Now I just need to choose a decent 27" monitor.

Not me. I'm really looking for something with 32GB RAM. Can't upgrade the HP without other $$$ options.

For example, scroll to timespy 3dmark results. Obviously, I wouldn't rely on just this review, but DYOR. For all intents and purposes a, mobile 100w 4060 performs the same as a mobile 4070.

Thanks, that seems to be an issue with the specific g14 model they're reviewing being hobbled with a 75W 4070 though, on average 4070s seem to perform about 10% better than the 4060 in this Lenovo.

Curious to know why you'd spend the extra money for this compact, OLED model, to use it with a 27" screen? You could have bought another laptop with the same internal specs but with an IPS screen and saved at least $200 if it's just going to sit plugged into an external display.

I'll be using it at my office with an external display about 70% of the time. The other 30% I'll appreciate something lightweight with a decent screen.

Is there something else you'd recommend that would save me $200?

I'm in for one after shopping around the various deals.

I even scouted the HP Transcedence.

These notebooks just seem to work and have a beautiful display.

Grabbed a 32gb version myself a few mins ago. Well, that search is over with for a while.

Need to wait for that $70 of rewards to kick in so I can get a useless accessory or two.

Honestly, if you can appreciate the lightweight build and beautiful screen, I can't recommend anything else. If you want to save $200, it will be a 16" laptop like the sibling Legion 5 (see deal here for 985: https://slickdeals.net/f/17310442-lenovo-legion-slim-5-16-qhd-165hz-ryzen-7-7840hs-rtx-4060-16gb-ddr5-1tb-ssd-985-99 [Plus 10% CB at a certain popular CB site])

I ordered mine the day I posted this deal and it was delivered today. So about 8 calendar days? My ETA was mid-March at the time.
