8gb ram
8GB RAM, slower single channel 256GB SSD, 60Hz display, last generation chip, new model on the way in less than a month. It's a pass for me.
8gb nonupgradable ram for a grand 💀

Its a total of 8 ounces heavier than the 13. 3.3 vs 2.75 lbs. You might want to hit the gym if you think thats heavy. The dimensions are larger but its not like a portable desktop.
Yeah. My desktop GPU weighs almost exactly the same as this entire laptop. The original comment was hyperbole maybe, but it didn't come off that way

I don't get people who say 13/14in laptops are too cramped for daily use. As someone who spent most of their time on a 32in monitor for the better part of the last five years and was forced to suddenly switch to a 14in daily-driver laptop, I really don't get it. Not to mention, I don't see what just roughly 20% of a screen increase is going to do when they are already that small. I'd rather have a laptop that's a bit more compact and easy to handle
The extra 20% makes room for a slack window so I can see messages while watching YouTube.

I wish the 13" was on sale for $800-$900. I tried the 15" model but it's big and heavy. Like a portable desktop almost.

You're not going to be able to touch this price with the new chips onboard, duh! Why do you think they're on sale? With not much excitement around the new chips, the M2's are fine.
And stop with the "need 16gb ram".
It's all you Windows users that don't understand how a Mac runs. Read up on it.
smh
tell us, how exactly does a Mac runs? Do they have some magic compression technique that no one else know about?

Folks knock this for 8gb of RAM but honestly a 256gb drive is worse with these models.

That was the M1 13". The M2 13" has never been that low (yet).

Apparently costco hates their customers, just like apple.
They could have wrestled apple into giving them 16GB for a decent price or no deal.

Apple: Let's charge exorbitant prices for RAM upgrades and milk even MORE money from our loyal customers.

Loyal Apple customer: I'll compromise on my memory needs and still be loyal to Apple. I just be more conscious of my memory usage

Apple: Too many of our customers are compromising on ram, and we can't milk them with our outrageous ram prices. Let's make it so our next gen MacBooks have crippled RAM speeds on the 8gb config. Apparently our loyal customers need a little more incentive to upgrade RAM and pay our blatantly overpriced prices.

I'm not an Apple hater, btw. It's just ridiculous how they blatantly overcharge their customers and have such consumer-unfriendly practices. If their unified memory or storage was actually higher performing than the competition, they'd at least have that argument. But it's not better or faster. In fact, it's slower in some cases.

Only Apple could sell a non upgradable 256GB + 8GB ram for $1000 and call it a deal.

Meh, very happy with the $1199 Macbook Pro M2 14" w/ 16GB of ram from them two weeks ago. Got lucky and found the last one in my area.
