What big announcement? Are there rumors that I missed?
There were rumors of some of their first party games going multi-platform and more not great rumors for the Xbox brand. They will address them on today on Xbox podcast.

Looks like the podcast drops in a couple of hours, so I'm sure we will find out soon enough. I don't see it as a bad thing, unless you are a PS5 gamer that was planning to get a previous exclusive game for Xbox. It's a win-win for games if these publishers open up their games to all consoles, i.e. MLB The Show on Xbox for past few years.

Yeah this is where I fall. Gamepass is the seller and will keep my in the xbox ecosystem.
Playstation will likely start releasing their games on pc the same day because the cost to make AAA games is out of control.

As I said you might as well wait a few hours then. Who knows what they will announce.

It looks like the sky isn't falling. Four Xbox exclusives are going to be made available on other platforms (It will not be Starfield or Indiana Jones and The Great Circle). Probably Hi-Fi Rush and 3 others.

Podcast didn't really announce anything, I just finished it. Four games coming, but they won't even say what the four games are lol. This was a crazy overhyped podcast.

Yeah not a lot of the info we wanted. Here's an excerpt about the future of Xbox. Playstation is also talking about putting more games on PC. So both sides are thinking in the same why for the future.
"Microsoft is now seizing an opportunity to put its games elsewhere, or "Xbox Everywhere" as the company refers to it internally. "We're making these decisions for some specific reasons," says Spencer. "We make every decision with the long-term health of Xbox in mind, which means a growing platform, our games performing, building the best platform for creators, reaching as many players as we can. We're always looking to learn as a leadership team and to grow, and we think this is an interesting point in time for us to use what some of the other platforms have right now to help grow our franchises."

Four games are coming to multiplatform - none of them matter and there are no changes to the hardware strategy.
Non-story.
