Fwiw I've owned the Lorex LWF2080B-66 for about 4 years now running 24/7 and been recently raving how flawless it's been. Albeit the app is wildly outdated it still gets the job done. Which is why I'm considering this over paying monthly for my nest, which actually has a flawless app.. 🤔🤔

Big fan of eufy doorbell cams for being free and simple app. Just keep in mind whether you need a wired or wireless - as well as if it will fit on your existing door frame because they're rather large and wide
Have this. OK. Few things. You need to have the router close. The 2.4 frequency works well. The 5 frequently doesn't. It drops so often. Hard to reset the doorbell if the app doesn't see it without having to take it off and reset. I have a few cameras by lorex. The one that tracks drops often. Every few days. Only way to see it again is rebooting it. Lorex is ok, but I wonder if Eufy is better. The only advantage the doorbell has is that you can use the existing chime.

I would recommend the Reolink doorbell over this. They come in both WiFi and PoE versions and can be set up with their NVR for continuous recording or standalone with a SD card paired with the app. I've had mine up for about a month, works very well and has some great features like person detection and Alexa/Google notifications.
lol some of these comments....China spying on you? cause you're that important. leaving a $90 equipment outside to get stolen....best response i saw to that was "you'd be surprise to find people parking outside..."
I personally have the Lorex for home security cameras and its working quite well for me. 5 years and i just had to replace the hard drive since it died. I am considering this doorbell though since I don't have a smart doorbell yet.

I own Lorex 4 camera NVR wired, and I ended up disconnecting the ethernet after my receiving over 90+ questionable connections from China and Russia. This was before Dahua sold Lorex to Taiwan company Skywatch. The 4k camera are great don't get me wrong. I would just stay offline, which defeats being able to remote into your system.
Hmmm as skeptical as it sounds, there are articles to back up this china spy claim as recent as 6 months ago. Sigh now I have to get a new security system?

Hi .. use a VPN .. that is run a VPN server on your router so you can remote in to your LAN. ( router or other device )
Also find a way to isolate your "smart internet things" from the LAN .. they like the security issues you mentioned = security concern.
I expect all internet connected devices which do not get frequent security patches to eventually be compromised unless you do something to black access to thme.

I do run VPN, but you still need to allow access for Lorex to connect to your network. Which is when you start to get all these questionable access points connecting and getting blocked according to my logs.

a wired setup is so much better than WiFi
