Hope this helps others save trouble.
1. The fan noise.
It spins up pretty frequently and is quite audible.
2. The speakers.
Wow they are bad. I don't expect a lot from laptop speakers, but even at 100% volume the output is so weak. Can't see many situations where I can use it any less than full volume. It also distorts when it's not even being pushed that hard.
3. In some aspects it seems a step slower than my old Dell Inspiron with Core i5 4210U and 8 GB of RAM (I only upgraded the HDD to a Samsung Evo 850 SSD). Not sure if this is because of the type of SSD drive in this, Windows 11, or what.
4. Non-user removable battery
Is this the standard for laptops now? I haven't purchased a new laptop since 2015, but I like being able to remove the battery and leave it plugged in full-time because most of my computer use is stationary at home. But if I do that with this, I fear it will overcharge the battery.
5. Windows 11
I know this isn't MSI's fault, but this OS is not great so far. Much prefer Windows 10.
On paper this MSI should be much better than my Dell, but so far it doesn't feel that way. I'll continue to use it for a bit but I'm leaning towards sending it back.

1. fan
only had the fan turn on full bore once - when it was installing some updates - and I thought a windstorm had started (quite frequent here in the NW).
2. speakers
speakers are ok for me, most cheaper laptops sound similar, I for one am not bothered.
3. speed
that was by biggest shocker too - the machine should be blindingly fast, esp. again my v old Toshiba retrofitted with a Samsung Evo SSD. There were instances were I ended up clicking multiple times as it wasn't starting the task, only to get multiple tasks launching. Unexplainable for me, and I believe it must the Win11
4. Non-user removable battery
ha, that startled me too, all my laptops had removable battery. then I read up and yes it seems that is the std on new laptops. oh well...
5. Win 11
agreed, I knew I won't like Win11 and prefer Win10 but I have to say it's not as bad as I expected it to be
extra:
6. the touchpad
that is the part I was afraid of, and while scrolling - my biggest fear - works ok, I had a ton of trouble trying to do precise picks - like say the corner of a window to resize. the pad is so sensitive (prob due to either the integrated click area, the pad being large, or maybe the palm touching? slightly?) that it was a real chore. even selecting rows in excel to use RMB. unworkable
7. casing material
the casing material is v v sensitive to smudges. it's not like I type with greasy hands, and the result after 1 evening of browsing/setup - the whole laptop looked just horrible.
Due to 3, 6, 7 mine's going back. I'll stick to my old one until Win11 becomes a must, right not it's not worth it even at this price point.

I just followed the standard return instructions from NewEgg. Hope my refund gets processed without issue. I've never paid for anything using installments like Zip or Affirm. Hopefully I didn't need to do anything special through Zip's app or anything.
