Really, this seems like it would be fine for a lot of low powered/inexpensive things... not sure I'd use it for my phone, TV/sound system or computers.

in the end, i decided to use the two usb-a on the power strip and kept the anker 711 for usb-c
Also - the outside plugs, where you would normally put in the larger wall warts are too close together. About 50% of my wall plugs won't fit beside each other. I have a Belkin brand one that's been around FOREVER...and they fit GREAT into that one, for about the same price I believe (it's on Amazon, it has 10's of thousand of reviews...you'll see it).
I am still using this Anker because I already have it, and I made it work for my setup...but I honestly wouldn't recommend it over the Belkin - ESPECIALLY if you have larger adapters to plug into it.
It's like insurance. You don't need it until you do.
Get a whole house surge protector then. More than likely your stove, fridge etc. isn't plugged into a surge protector.
Getting a whole house, it will be protected.
