We all smell different things, but I strongly disagree with this statement. To my nose, Oud Noir has a very approachable, entry-level oud that doesn't have a funk/barnyard spin that can turn most people off. Come to think of it, I think this was the first oud frag I ever bought.
This is also a moot point because you should never buy fragrances off of Amazon. Your odds of getting scammed/counterfeit bottles is high. Reputable fragrance discounters (Jomashop/Giftexpress/Fragrancebuy) have testers for $55 or less anyway, so shop elsewhere.

If you think Oud can sometime smells like rotten wood or fecal matter, then I suggest it's time for you to visit an ENT

I have this scent and like it. If you are not into fragrances, this is one you should test first. It's not the typical sweet smelling cologne style you are probably accustom to. I like it, but I have a few different bottles. I may buy another as a back up. I've heard this may be discontinued. "I've heard" this, but have no evidence tis is the case. I totally agree with both posters before me. Both views are or can be true.
I like it, but that's me. If you don't know what oud is, than it'll be new to you.

There's two basic types of oud fragrances: ones that are pretty much pure oud oil, and mukhallat-style ouds, which are blended with other scents. This is a perfectly good example of the latter - there's enough oud to let you know it's there, without overpowering everything else around it. Of course, it's not going to smell like a pure oud fragrance (which are rather polarizing).

This was $50 at Costco if you have a time machine. Great scent.
*grumbles about his order that Costco cancelled*

I understand what you mean. I go to ULTA and Sephora and test out fragrances myself. They don't have everything I'd like to test but they have a bunch. Trying it out first would be best. I'll blind buy some clones, but even some of those will be over $50. Shipping cost will sometimes make it unappetizing for me to order samples, but I totally get it. I have a couple of Tom Ford ouds that I just don't get the hype, but too late now! So I get it. I don't even like to suggest fragrances. Doesn't smell the same on everyone and even if it did, they may not like it! I have some that I really like and girlfriend doesn't. You just never know.
There are sites like MicroPerfumes that'll sell you small sample sizes of just about everything. It's not perfect vs. the full bottle, but it'll give you a better idea at a few dollars a piece. My wife has a super sensitive nose, so it took me at least 20 different tries to get something that we both liked. Brutal stuff.

I would never buy fragrances on Amazon. High probability of this stuff being fake.

I mean, it doesn't just smell like rotten wood, it literally is wood that's been infected by a type of mold. And yes, it's particularly popular in the middle east.

Personally, I think that no one should spend $50+ on a fragrance that they haven't tried first. There are a few sites out there that offer small samples of a wide variety of scents and people can also stop by Sephora or whatever to try stuff out. Some scents just don't match up well with you, others you may not personally like the smell of, and if you have a spouse/significant other there's another factor to take into consideration.
For sure...just walk into a Sephora and smell it.....and walk out with your hands up so the guards dont shoot you. hehe

Just received mine, I was nervous buying without smelling it first but my fears were quickly gone once I tried it. It is unlike any of my current colognes, it has an earthy aroma that is extremely pleasant. Glad I took the risk.

Far from a SLICKdeal, it's not even a deal. This fragrance sells for the same price ( tester ) on jomashop and fragrance.net. The non tester bottle is just slightly more ( ~$65)
But this isn't a Tester, so compare $58 plus tax on Amazon vs $71 (w/ $6 shipping) + tax on Joma and $76 on FragranceNet. So not a bad deal.

Why are people being shamed for saying they don't like the smell?
And others being praised for saying they do?

We all have different taste. It's a little odd to bash someone just because they have an opinion you don't like.

I've never understood why people need to mask their natural odor with: smoke, Oud, Pine, earth, water, myrhh etc.
BATHE!!
