I can't figure out how to do brown jasmine properly in Zoji rice cooker. I've tried different times, settings, proportions. Comes out like oatmeal. Instant Pot I have it down, but that's generally stowed away so a little annoying vs. the rice cooker which is used nearly daily.

Does it have a brown rice setting?
Brown rice generally needs to cook longer and needs different water amounts than white. So if there is not a brown rice setting check the manual to see what it says for how to cook.

Say you made 2 cups of rice, add water up to 3 line indicator of pot itseIf. Start there and see if results are good for you.

It does have brown setting. Works great for normal brown rice, just not jasmine. I've tried various ratios but kinda gave up since I always have sacks of white jasmine on hand. Maybe I'll try again, still have a couple kilos in the freezer. (I don't cook from frozen, moved it there so it wouldn't go rancid). Oh, and it did work out in soups and hot dish type stuff, just not plain.

Try cook and drain method. Directly cook rice in a pot over stove with twice the required water. Keep checking and once the rice is cooked to your satisfaction, switch off the stove and drain excess water. This method will avoid rice becoming mushy or sticky. You can also add a bit of oil to the water to speed up the process. Flip side of the process is with the drained water you also lose some starch. Instead of throwing away the water you can use that water as broth or add some spices and it beomes a drink.
