NEW RELEASE: Amazon Echo Hub | 8โ€ smart home control panel with Alexa for $144 with Amazon Device Trade-In

Just released today is Amazon's new Echo Hub smart home controller.

Full price is $180, but you can get 20% off if you have an old Amazon device laying around to use for trade-in, making it $144.

I, along with many others, have been waiting for a long time for an affordable and easy way to integrate my smart home devices on to one wall mounted touch screen hub, and this appears to do just that. It doesn't check all my boxes (wish it were a larger screen), but it checks off most of them.

Can this replace the functionality of a ring keypad? Can I set it up to arm/disarm my alarm with a pin? It's so stupid that requiring a pin is not an option with the ring app.

If you've been a long time ring alarm owner(maybe before 2022) then you can set up a pin(just one) otherwise you'll have to have the subscription plan. It doesn't replace the keypad if you have multiple people in your home who wants different pins. But what I like is that it does show the status of the alarm, disarm, home, or away on the screen.

Agree. Next time they force you to watch 30 seconds video before you can press widget.

I use to prefer Amazon pods/hubs over Google, but even after disabling all the notifications it still is full of ads. I dread seeing the yellow notification bar and wondering if it is a weather alert or 'an item I purchased in the past is fifteen cents cheaper would I like to buy?'

There were some disappointments with the hub, I bought one as soon as I could, but some things to consider, it says that it is poe compatible, but there is no network input on the hub. It only has USB, you will have to convert your Poe to USB which is an extra purchase and an extra box to have in the wall if you were planning for a clean installation.

Can you elaborate on this? We have separate pins for different members of the family but we both only use mine to arm/disarm the keypad so one pin doesn't matter. We have been with Ring for a long time well before 2022. So do you use the pin on your Ring account or set up a pin with Amazon? Can you set up a "distress" pin (fake pin that shuts off alarm but tells Ring there's an intruder and to send law enforcement) like with the keypad?

I didn't even know about the distress pin feature, but I'm also not subscribed to the ring alarm plan. You set up a pin through Alexa app, this is separate from your ring pin. This pin can do everything a normal keypad can do, but only on the hub. There is a security tab on the bottom of the hub that displays the status(disarm, home, away). I still prefer using keypad for multiple people because it shows who's arming or disarming the alarm.

Interesting that some people seem to have problem with Show 15, I absolutely love mine and I don't seem to get ads very often at all, mostly just news and recipes scrolling. I guess for smart home Show 15 does the basic stuff like viewing cameras and turn on different lights, etc. I wish it can also control Ring, but that's plenty easy with Alexa. This smart home control center is not worth it to me, maybe for $50 max.

You can disable the news and recipes. I've disabled everything and get what I want. Pictures, calendar, smart home, shopping list and sticky note.

you remember back when Prime Video didn't have garbage ads before every episode of a show..? those were the good days, when a service i already pay for starts showing ads because it "needs" more revenue.
also pretty awesome when it says "this episode brought to you ad free by Samsung... right after this ad from Samsung!" Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Prime Video has always been a hilarious service... it's like if you had to pay a monthly fee to get into a BlockBuster store back in the day, and still had to pay to rent movies... What a business model!!!

tossed all my Amazon/Alexa/Echo devices... she's just such a chatty turd, all the time. i just asked for the damn weather, stop telling me about how you can help me order more products!!!

Please provide some cite that it has built-in zwave support, there is no reference to zwave on Amazon's page

"Smart Home Device Compatibility

Compatible with WiFi and Bluetooth Low Energy Mesh devices, as well as Zigbee, Thread, and Matter devices as a controller only."

"With Zigbee, Thread, Bluetooth LE, and Amazon Sidewalk radios on board, the Hub is also a smart home hub, capable of being a Thread border router and Matter Controller. (You'll still need a separate Z-Wave hub compatible with Alexa to use Z-Wave devices)."

Requiring you to integrate with another hub that includes zwave is not the same as zwave support
