Use coupon code: COS15 for 15% off orders over $50. So if u don't order the minimum for free shipping, at least the code will offset some shipping costs.
Just an FYI. You can get the IKEA Oftast plates, bowls etc for under a dollar for small bowls to around 1.79 for plates when they go on sale.

They are made in France by Duralex. Pretty much the same as these. Thin and strong.

We have used them in our vacation rentals and have only lost 3 pieces in 7 years.

The only thing is they are only in white.
Skip the sets that include mugs. The mugs are just normal stoneware, so you're probably better off just buying whatever mugs you like elsewhere.

These are safer than melamine to use in the microwave, and they're very durable.
Thanks. I've never used mine in the microwave, I have a few that are more like Corelle, not sure if the same exact material, but definitely ones I feel comfortable in the microwave. I plan on using just Corelle now since they're microwave and dishwasher safe. My son being 14 now is also a much smaller chance of breaking plates which is what made me buy melamine years ago.

We have both Corelle and IKEA Oftast plates/ bowls. In my experience, the IKEA ones are not as durable as the Corelle ones.

I have a video of my husband, daughter, and our then-14 year-old son juggling (outdoors) with our Corelle plates 12 years ago. They're still in good shape and we're still using them. I just picked up a free set of saucers so the grandkids can start learning. Best wishes!

Winter frost. Bright White Corelle set I've used for years. Thanks for the info and 15% off code. Great deal on added pieces. Long lasting and works great in microwave and dishwasher. Can't say it never chips because it does happen, but it is rare. 3 year replacement warranty if it does chip before that.

We've had a disappointing experience with Corelle in recent years. The hand-me down set we got 20 years ago (probably 10 years old when we got them) held up great for another 10 years. Then we swapped for a more current design and the edges started splintering within 5 years and had to chuck them.

Either the Corelle formula changed or changes in dishwashing detergents are affecting them. There's discussion online about this, specific to recent sets--and lots of naysayers saying their plates have held up for 30 years, so it can't be a problem with the plates (ignoring the issue that older plates aren't a concern).

Will this be an upgrade over quality stoneware?
I've used Corelle's white frost glass dishes for years now and I highly recommend them. They're smooth on the bottom so you never have to worry about scratching up your counter or tables. The scratching is why I stopped using my stoneware plates.

If you use a dishwasher and you're in the market for plates, I recommend measuring your dishwasher's top rack to see what diameter will fit. Mine fits 8.5" plates so I have the option to put them on top or bottom rack.

The Winter Frost [amazon.com] is cheaper on Amazon if you're looking for a set. Got ours more than 5 years ago for the same price.

Hit and miss but worth a shot. Buying Corelle from Corelle is always a frustrating experience but does get priced competitively

Anything that will survive our obx rentals is worth it.

That set you linked is $49.99 at Corelle and $54.79 on Amazon. So Amazon is about 10% more.

I don't think stoneware is that high quality. Porcelain or China would be. I have Corelle's Bella Faenza dinnerware set, which looks more like a porcelain set, but it's made of a high-tech glass that is very practical and durable It's embossed with a nice design and pretty elegant. I get compliments on it. Made in the USA. It's lightweight, strong, very resistant to chipping and breaking, and it stacks very compactly. I like the fact that it comes with salad plates, instead of bread plates, and the bowls are nicer than many sets. I don't think you can go wrong with Corelle.

I never understood why people use other kinds of 'everyday' dishes other than Corelle.
