FYI this takes a CR2450 battery. There are other AAA versions if you'd prefer.

Luckily, nobody is forcing you to buy one. Smilie
People put them in the cabinet where they store their camera gear to make sure their gear won't get ruined by mold. They put them in their humidor to make sure their cigars won't dry out. They put them in their glasshouses. They put them in their terrarium to make sure their emotional support lizard won't catch a cold. Sometimes these are sold by the dozen, and people buy them by the dozen...

Despite the literature lacking info, it's been confirmed here many times that it's integrated with Google Home. I am using it myself.

Are these suitable as just a general, room temperature/humidity sensor and low power dash?

I live in an apartment with quite old PTAC systems with COLD/HOT dials only, without a visible temp set point or display. Was wondering if I could use this to better see room temperature at a glance to better dial things in. A lot of people chiming in here seem to be using these for much more niche monitoring cases (fermentation, humidors, etc).

Is there another option that would meet my use case a little more closely?

No, I'm being serious. I don't know what these are for!
I have one I monitor to ward off dry skin (cracked fingertips) and sinus pain. I like it about 50% and it will drop quickly when the heat is on. I own a dual temp humidifier and a mini on my nightstand. ETA they're also used for things that require humidity ie reptiles, amphibians, cigars, plants, etc. But if you didn't know its not an interest.

Maybe to let you know when to use a humidifier although I'd assume those can be easily purchased with a sensor built in. I'm with you but still considering buying it because it's $8 and I'm a big sucker.

The 2 pack is still in stock.

Here is the older 3 X AA e-ink version, but not sure I'd recommend since mine only gets <1 month battery life, maybe later ones fixed it

Unfortunately I'm late to the party. Only 2-packs are available, which the discount code gives only $5 off. Still going to dive in.

Oh dang. 1 month battery life is too short.

Cr2450 is too pricey
