YMMV, check your local stores. Walmart app shows out of stock for both models, but my local store (Kemah, TX) had two of each on clearance.

Motorguide R3 $49.50 (was $139)
Minn Kota Edge $199 (was $399)

Yeah, walmart app showed "not in stock" for my store, but obviously it was incorrect. Highly YMMV.

Is this motor to prevent trolls or attract trolls?

It seems to be an attractant.

I grabbed the r3 for my kayak the other day. They also had battery boxes for $40 down from $70. This cheap trolling motor has turned into a surprisingly expensive endeavor for me.

It's a good hobby. Promotes skill building and learning. Personally, the motor on a kayak is not for me, and I'd rather paddle. But if friends come to town …🤔.

There are many more useless ways to waste money Smilie

I spend a lot of time fishing in the bay so it will be nice in the big open water. When tides are involved I like to be able to spend my time fishing not trying to keep myself where I want to be. Also it is great for crabbing without having to take a bigger boat out. I like to run a 600' trotline and doing that while paddling would be an absolute nightmare. Skills and knowledge are one thing I am certainly not lacking.

I have a Newport Vessels 55 on my jonboat. I'm paddle-only for my kayak (sit inside), until I upgrade to a pedal powered rig. I probably should've flipped a few of these trolling motors to help finance buying a pedal-yak.

I got three of the Minn Kota Endura C2 30 for $35 a piece today. That was a good find. I'll sell them pretty quickly where I live.

I know this is an old tread but recently came across the Endura C2 30 at wally but at $69 so the $35 is amazing!

I know nothing of trolling motors so thought to ask - I realize the Endura is for freshwater but if I use in saltwater, will it wear down fast? Or will it hold as long as I rinse really well? Thoughts?

I don't have first hand knowledge, but rinsing anything after salt water use is always a good idea.

Glad you were still able to find one!
