Almost no skateboard comes ideally setup for a adult man unless you are just super fit or small, as they are mostly tailored to kids. The bushings come with a soft durometer that makes the board lean over too easily. For say a 200lbs. man, the 85-90 durometer bushings will ideally be changed out for 98-100s. The good news is bushings are only about $9.

Unless you have skating experience as a kid, I recommend most adults to start on a longboard or at least a cruiser. Bigger wheels roll over cracks without launching you. Softer wheels grab better and reduce the bumpiness. Longer wheelbases and firmer bushings make the board less darty.
DGK is legit. Started by pro skater Stevie Williams. *EDIT* Let me add that if you're an adult - those board widths are considered narrow by today's standards. Most are riding at least 8" and up. If you skated in the 90s - these available widths would probably feel normal.
This was posted last month. Free shipping does not apply to these. If you add four to your cart, shipping is still a flat rate $40.

Even with $20 shipping, is this deal still slick?
$50 for a complete skateboard. Pick a deck at a skate shop $45-60 for just the deck. Trucks $30 grip tape $6 wheels $22 bearings $15 complete together $120 and up especially if you choose all quality items $165. Seems slick $50

Seems yikes till I went over to the Almost board company deal and they wanted $25 to ship one board. So I went with this deal. I love the randomness of it. Can't wait to see what I get. I went with 7.5 because I'm old. Anything over 8 is unridable for me.

Absolutely a great choice for beginners. I wouldn't trust those trucks (metal axles) when you need to most (on handrails and big drops), but for a younger child learning the basics of skateboarding, it's a great choice. I'd recommend the smallest one.

Most of us were riding 7.5 in mid 2000s

At his size, a 7.5 or 7.75 would be perfect. The latter would feel more stable but a bit harder to control initially, and he would never really outgrow a 7.75 (it is the minimum size for an adult.) The 7.5 will be easier to ride for the initial learning period.

DGK is an amazing brand that makes very stiff decks which don't flex; this makes them easier to learn on as the movement is more predictable. Boards from Wallmart and discounts stores will bend/flex and that makes them more challenging to maneuver.

Other things to buy:
Skate tool ($5 on amazon, buy any one - they are all the same) - your kid should watch youtube and learn how to loosen the wheels so they spin freely (they always come too tight) and how to adjust the trucks to his body weight/height.
Safety gear: helmut and wrist guards at minimum, elbow & knee pads suggested.

Got my board today. I love the design I got. It's this one:

https://5150skateshop.com/product...-rush-deck

The trucks, bushings and bearings are all no name but they aren't trash. They aren't venture trucks but they aren't THAT much worse. Of course like someone else said I probably wouldn't try and do a 10 stair gap or something crazy on them but the deck is solid it's got some pop.

Mine also came in with the love park box. The kool-aid one I got is cool, but I like the one with him busting threw the wall or him riding in a 64' impala hitting switches. Lol.

Is this a real skateboard or one of those walmart quality ones that can't handle the weight of an adult?

Dak is a great board/brand. No Walmart type. However braille boards by maple are being sold for 8 bucks. Trade out the trucks and you have a complete set to your standard
