It turns out there are secret button pushes to change equalizer modes on this thing:

hit volume up and phone simultaneously to cycle between 3 treble modes,

hit volume down and bluetooth simultaneously to cycle base modes in a similar fashion

It's still showing full price for me despite trying 2 different browsers...it's clearly marked as full price in my Cart at Checkout unfortunately.

This s a great price! I gave older ones and they sound awesome. One had the notorious battery issue, so hopefully that's been fixed in 3rd gen. Otherwise, totally recommend this speaker (and get 2 fvthem uf you do buy!)

Look up USB Power Delivery (PD). It utilizes USB but at much higher maximum voltages. That's how many current and recent laptops charge via USB and my phone takes enough of a charge in half an hour to last all day. There are multiple >5V USB technologies.
