The spouse/partner trick is unnecessary. Just sign up as though you are moving to your own address. I did it again yesterday and it worked the same as a year ago. Go to Xfinity.com (while NOT signed in) > Internet Deals. Enter address and it will recognize you have service there. Ignore the buttons for signing in or transferring service. Instead choose the option for new customer. Click through the plans and get your cart all tidy. Eventually you will come to a page asking you to either create an Xfinity ID or log into an existing; choose existing. It will even let you keep your autopay bank account the same. Shortly after submitting, you'll see a pending cancellation email and a thank you for your new order. Later (or in my case the next (this) morning), another email will give the cancellation date (several weeks out for me). Once the new modem arrives (if you chose one, which I did in order to get the $10 XFi complete), activate the new modem under the new account and it will automatically cancel your prior account at the same time. There will be some final prorations on the old account, and the new account will also have the opposite.

I'm guessing it's the same, age old trick with Comcast: if you don't get the answer you want from the rep you're talking to....try, try again.

(Totally guessing...) but it feels like the reps get bonused on the new accounts they sign up. So if you find the right rep, they'll have you cancel your current plan, then start on the new plan, and that rep would get the credit.

And don't ever feel like you're screwing over Comcast. I had Comcast Business for 1Gig for 2 years at $100 per month. The DAY that it ended, they jacked me up to $300 per month. I didn't notice it for 2 months. Once I did, I switched to regular Comcast for 900MB for $60. If I didn't cancel, they would have happily charged me $300/mo for my service I'm now getting for $60.

If they're offering it...you deserve it. Good luck!

No, I always get 480Mbps. At this low of a speed, it should be consistently that. When I had 1 gig, it did seem to vary and I only sometimes got ~945Mbps and just accepted that it could drop 100 to 200Mbps in speed depending on external factors. For people with newer network equipment and the highest commercial tier, I wonder how consistently they get 1.44Gbps.

Is $50/mo a deal for 400MB download speed? I've seen folks reporting $40/mo for 400MB speed. Wondering if I should jump in.

No manager at a local store can price match for existing customers. Your best bet is to get a hold of the retention department, although calling in can be tough in itself.

Comcast is praying on people that are unaware of price hike after contract is over. They try to get you off paper bills and auto pay so it is harder for you to find out that your bill is 3x for some reason.
You do not want any of their equipment nor free tv, since they will add bunch of fees, something they can't do if you just have internet

Retention department won't do much either once they check the account and see people have other contracts attached to it, for example, those free phone with 24 months credit, so avoid those long term commitment offer.

They currently charge me $45 for 400 MB download after $10 per month discount for port a mobile line. I was paying $20 per month for last two years for 800 MB download.

I've been on the 200 plan for around a year @ $35. The 10 mb/sec upliine is somewhat of a bummer but it's pretty rare that I need to do something that the 200 plan is insufficient.

It's a great plan for saving money.

This is what you should definitely do.

I'd like to share my path with being in the same household and trying to switch existing plan to new plan. My parents was going at year 10 for their xfinity account. We were getting charged almost $200. We were also supplying our own modem.

1. Posted on reddit r/Comcast_Xfinity/ that it's gotten really expensive, I was able to chat with someone and they were able to lower the bill to 89$ if I returned the TV.
2. Found this promotion, gave it to the comcast individual on reddit, and said it didn't exist in the system and $89 was their best price.
3. I ended up signing up for the promotion under a new email and subsequently told them to cancel my plan. I also ordered a new modem ($50) as I read if I wanted comcast to remove my existing modem, it would take 24-48 hours to get it off their system.
4. They submitted a request to cancel and gave me the option to ship everything back.
5. With same day shipping from walmart +, I was able to receive it the same day that I decided to sign up for the new xfinity promotion. Therefore, I unplugged old modem, put new one in, logged into the xfinity app to connect the new modem and everything worked perfectly in 20 minutes.

Sounds like this route will let me keep my platinum status vs trying to be a new user which might eliminate my long time status? Does anyone know?
