Deal Instructions:
  1. Sign into your Sonos account.
  2. View the products registered to your account in the System tab. Qualifying Products that are eligible for the Upgrade Program will be clearly marked under Your Account, indicating the Discount Credit level that will be applied to your future purchase.
  3. Navigate to the Upgrade tab within Your Account and follow the instruction steps for each Qualifying Product. You will be directed to accept these terms & conditions in order to receive your Discount Credit.
  4. Your Discount Credit and the amount of your discount will be reflected and available for use anytime you are logged into the "My Account" section of sonos.com.

Yes, you're missing that the upgrade credit does not require you to return your Play 3's or Playbar (although they will gladly accept them if you *want* to return them). The upgrade credit just applies a discount to the new item you are purchasing.

1. Will not deactivate your current device.
2. You do not need to send your old device in for recycle.
3. You can only use one code per item rather than order like before so if you want 2 x era300 for example add the 2pack and use one code rather than two.
4. 30% discount will override any other discount such as sale OR bundle price.

Hypothetically, can you purchase a new Sonos product locally today and activate, which would be within the promotional time period and allow you to gain another 30% off coupon? I read the terms and it didn't say you need to own and register the product as of 2/23

If you bought a Move 1 and it's activated on your Sonos account, you should see an option to get an upgrade coupon when you go to your account on Sonos.com. "Upgrade" discounts are not available on already discounted items like Move 1 or refurbished items. You can only use this coupon on any future, full price Sonos item. You'll see an option in the Cart to use a an upgrade coupon. As others have said, you don't not have to send Sonos your old device, this is just an incentive to get you to upgrade to the latest Sonos device.

I'm not a fam of either Move for what they cost but the difference is better battery life, better sound and soundstage because of dual tweeter, new touch controls, new color, better switching between bluetooth and wifi and bluetooth connectivity. It's way more than just better battery life.

Just keep old stuff on the s1 app and new stuff on the Sonos app.. it is annoying though as you can whole home if split.

FYI Play:5 Gen 1 does not qualify - only Gen 2

Edit: it lists Gen1 in 1 list, but not the other. Gen 2 does not have the "Upgrade Available" option.

I upgraded my Playbase a couple of years ago and used the 30%credit to purchase the record player & 5 combo. I get nervous every time I update the playbase software. Somehow everything still plays together after a few software updates to the system (Playbase, sub and 2x play 3's).

I'm assuming that they wiould not brick the core of a system (then nothing would work). Maybe they will brick just a part of the system like an old speaker or sub if those were upgraded and thier software will not update?

Be careful doing an upgrade and prepare to have your system not work anymore if you update your software (the old upgraded parts may not get the software update and become incompatible in your system).

To be safe, turn off automatic updates.

In the Sonos app got to the Settings tab under System > System Updates > Update Automatically. TURN OFF.

If someone has a clear explanation of the rules, that would be appreciated.

It's definitely not the battery life alone! I kept the Move 1 and Move 2 in same room and tested them for more than a week. Personally, Move 2 has a more punchier sound for music as well as videos, connects faster, better wifi/bluetooth, longer battery life, black color option is more black, love the touch controls on top and battery save on wifi option really doesnt let the battery drain somehow. I returned the Move 1 and use the Move 2 everyday for some or other reason.
