Mustard only entered the rod game in 2022. They seem like high quality blanks fitted nicely. Worst thing that can happen is I end up with a buddy rod 🙂

I do use their Detector and Instict rods...very nice rods...but don't like any of their other rods for panfish and those are the only ones on sale.

From what I heard the EVOQ is made in the Dominican Republic. I cannot guarantee the others but I am pretty sure the same.

I have a Hybrid G Series rod. It's an okay travel/hike in rod for steelhead/salmon. They had a lot of these rods very discounted during Black Friday and I picked mine up for $60ish. I would not be too happy if had paid $100. No hook keeper and the telescoping piece is just loosey goosey when not extended, think of a well used cheapo plastic telescoping lightsaber, pretty annoying.

I ordered the vantage evoq and the bass craft rod. Just opened the box tube/box and they seem pretty decent. I'm not a fishing expert by any means but I would say these are def worth $30ish. It came in a sleeve that holds them together also which was a nice touch. The tube it came in was sturdy also with bubble wrap. Well packaged.

The best match for you is probably the G-Series Surf Rod even though I don't know much about crabbing. Almost everything else is either way too weak in the oz range for that, or the rods are way too short.

Even if this rod doesn't work for your crabbing adventures, you will have a cool surf rod.

I am ordering a baitcast and spinning inshore for my son and I. Any suggestions on reels? We mostly fish small lakes and the coast in South Texas. Thanks.

What is your budget? Do you plan on doing more Saltwater fishing than Freshwater? Also depends on the rod action you ordered and recommended corresponding line.

I am looking at it the spinning inshore based a a recommendation as we are novice level. I would like to stay around $100 per reel. We mostly fish small lakes at my son's Boy Scouts events.
