I am looking at it the spinning inshore based a a recommendation as we are novice level. I would like to stay around $100 per reel. We mostly fish small lakes at my son's Boy Scouts events.
I don't know much about actions and lines though πŸ™

Well, if you are going to be inshore fishing sometimes you will most likely need/want a semi saltwater reel. Personally I use PENN reels but Daiwa and Shimano are good too. Reels like the Daiwa Fuego, Penn Fierce, Shimano Sedona, may be good options for you. Personally for bass fishing I use Lew's reels but that is just a personal preference because of price and quality ratio.

About the line and action, you can go on Mustad and click on the rod you purchased on their website, and there will be a whole chart showing the specifications. From that you can act accordingly selecting a line and reel size. If you have a local Bass Pro or something you should go and look at the lures before buying them since size is mostly a personal preference. I paired a 2500 Penn Battle 3 with 15 pound braid on a 7ft Medium Heavy rod which works fine for inshore fishing.

Wanted to report that my Dozer spinning rod came in… BUY IT! It is literally a premium quality rod for only $60 bucks after the discounts. I don't even think some St. Croix rods can compete with the quality and lightness of this.

I have a Hybrid G Series rod. It's an okay travel/hike in rod for steelhead/salmon. They had a lot of these rods very discounted during Black Friday and I picked mine up for $60ish. I would not be too happy if had paid $100. No hook keeper and the telescoping piece is just loosey goosey when not extended, think of a well used cheapo plastic telescoping lightsaber, pretty annoying.
Damn I ordered the 9'9... It's on its way I sorta regret it. I coulda bought an okuma or fenwick oh well. I'm going trout and steelhead fishing for the first time ever

Has anyone actually had experience with any of these?
The Dozer rods are great. Xfast, quality, comfortable. Recommended. The FX is more of a boat rod, or maybe just dunking bait, but I wouldn't want to cast it all day. Hope that helps.

I hope my experience is just a one-off, but I ordered a Basscraft spinning rod on Feb 20th. The FAQ says they ship the same day, but I did not get any updates on my order even though they charged my CC already. I emailed them Mar 4th and they replied back a day later, saying they'd look into it. The day after that, I finally got an email that my order is on it's way and I finally received it just yesterday.

It's annoying that I had to actually reach out to them before I got any status updates.

As for the rod itself, I haven't tested it, but it does look and feel like a quality rod. The packaging was very good. They wrapped it in bubble wrap, taped it so it would stay put, and also wrapped a 4" piece of foam around the tip and taped it. The tube is very durable cardboard.

I just received my 3 rods, Medmax ultralight, Dozer and G-series hybrid, I am very impressed with the quality. Considering the price,I think it is a great deal.

I just bought the rod haven't used it yet but I noticed that. They ship it with a piece of foam in there going to have to think of a permanent fix. As far as the hook keeper zip tie a rubber washer or grommet or get a zip tie anchor

With how these are shipped, and the cost to ship a 7'6" tube these are a crazy deal. Feel pretty confident, the eyes are great, on what should be a great blank

I've been using rod wraps I made and that seems to help quite a bit with the looseness. I lost the foam piece the third time out with the rod. I like the zip tie idea, thanks. When it comes to fishing it, so far, it fishes good. I have okumas too, as much as I like them bang for buck their reel seats drive me nuts. They're always coming loose.
